I remember my dad talking about walking out of Tulane Stadium on that new years' eve in the rain and how disgusted everyone was in their group. With all of the UA fans that still remember that game, I am wondering how long all of those ND fans will cringe at the thought of reliving what happened a week ago. I think its safe to say that "Revenge is a dish best served cold". Its been almost 40 years since they beat us that night and i'll bet anything that in 2053 the people that went to that game will be just as bitter as we were. The shoe is on the other foot now...how long before they get a rematch?
As long as we've remembered 1973
How about the Sugar Bowl in 2008? I still want revenge on the Utes for that game.
They will never forget that, ever. Doesn't matter if they saw the other ND/Bama games or not. Everyone thought they were good and somebody showed them they weren't even close...I remember LSU and Rohan Davey beating us silly in BDS like it was last night...reality hurts and it was reality for them.
"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
They will remember this one forever. This was their Destiny. Every secondary mythical thing ND believes in was at stake here. All the coaches winning in their 3rd year - this being Coach Kelly's 3rd year. Over 20 years since being in a game of this magnitude. THEY ALL seriously thought they would beat us. It was predestined.
And they didn't just lose. They were embarrassed. They had NO shot to win and were completely and utterly dominated. The one advantage they were suppose to have, that all time great front seven - was man handled the same way we did against a team the likes of Western Carolina. This one, will hurt when they think about, when they are reminded about it - FOREVER.
Another question ... How long will Florida remember the Louisville beat down???
If I was a Gator fan, I'm damn glad I didn't go and see that mockery in person, even with it being in NOLA.
I remember SEC Championship game 1994 when we lost to Florida. I went to crying after we lost that. I hate the Gators.
That was a bitter defeat. I remember feeling hosed after the '89 Sugar Bowl when Miami had two fumbles that were both ruled down by contact and it was before instant replay so we got screwed. I think that is what made the '93 Sugar Bowl so sweet. Payback is hell! Same way 2009 SECCG vs Gators was payback for 2008.
They will remember it until they can beat us in a NC game. That means some of them will never forget.
Like others have already said...never. The chances of ND/Bama getting a rematch on that stage is close to zero, this win did more than just embarrass ND, it diluted their entire schedule-the teams they played and their journey to Miami. Say ND runs the table next year as well, they're not going to get the same clout and media drool fest they did this year when it was very clear they didn't even deserve seats in the upper deck in Sunlife Stadium.
I have a different take on it. They always get crushed in bowl games, so this will be just another one.
Never forget being assaulted
Never Gets Old
I don't know man, it hurt a lot worse losing to AU on their way to the BCS than it did losing to LSU last year in the regular season, we'll remember 2010 for a long time, we'll remember losing to Utah the way we did for a long time, I think this one will fester, marinate and ferment-at least I hope it will
By my math, we owe them at least 3 more losses before things are square. The thing with those ND wins in those bowl games was not just that they kept us from winning NC's but more galling because ND got exceedingly lucky in both games. Our game last week was a baby seal clubbing. It will sting them a bit but not the same.
Yep...I remember it as well..and this was such a sweeetttt, wonderful, blow out!! Revenge, whatever you want to call it, was wonderful!!!
40 years I hope
