Just for fun do you think we match the last two years? Certainly hoping we don't lose too many Jr's but here's my potential list:
Lester - late 1st
Milliner 1st w/ a good 2012 season
Nico Johnson late 1st potential IMO
Jesse Williams 1st
Quinton Dial 1st potential w/ good 2012
Mosley 1st potential w/ good and healthy 2012
B Jones slam dunk 1st IMO
Warmack (1st rnd talent IMO but I bet his height makes him a 2nd rnd pick)
M Williams 2-3 rnd
Lacey late 1st to 2nd w/ strong 2012
McCarron If he came out IMO certain 1st rnd if clowns like Tannehill get picked 8th.
Anywhere between 3-6 IMO.
Jones,Fluker,Warmack,Miliner,Moseley,Lester,Williams,Johnson, and Lacy are all possibilities given certain factors.
"Hey, hey, hey. A life. A life, Jimmy, you know what that is? It's the shit that happens while you're waiting for moments that never come."
Are all top 20 picks with
As options in the late 1st round.
I think there will be 32 picks in the first round. I kid I kid.
Seriously, with good years...it could be another monster first round for the Tide! Hope our team plays up to our potential...or exceeds it...then who knows?!
should be fun to watch!
4 or 5
I think Jesse Williams and Fluker are the best bets for first round status after Jones. Jones isn't going to play left tackle in the pros, but will have shown he can handle the other 4 positions. He's certainly more attractive than the Pouncey brothers were, so I cannot see why he would fall any further than the 20's next season. I don't see Nico Johnson as first round material. Not sure about Mosley either. We'll see about Milliner; he'd need to be ALL SEC next season. My hope is that Lacy has a good year in 2012, but not so good that he has to leave. Michael Williams is a guy that Mel Kiper is high on, but he'd need to get more catches this season.
I think Fluker, Jones, and Warmack could all be 1st rounders if the need is there. Certainly Jesse. Maybe Milliner. Mosley borderline.
Fluker, barring injury, will go top half of the 1st round. Guys like Nico are the ones it's hard to have a good feel on at this point.
safe bet is only 3 or 4 imho
New Member of The 247 Crew!
Fluker is the only lock first rounder (barring injury) All the other guys depend on this season and how they do - even BJones - IMO of course. Centers don't normally go in the first round. Jones will be helped because he can play anywhere on the line. Center is likely BJones' NFL position and having a 10 year guy at center is of great value to teams that know what they are doing - think Jeff Saturday and his years with Indy.
I feel so good for Mark Barron. Even with his injury last year he would have gone late first or second round. In the year he came back he to bama and by going #7 he netted 10 million over 4 years (at least) over what he would have made had he gone last year - guaranteed!
Fluker and Milliner are for sure first rounders at this point.
Guys like CJ Mosley, Barrett Jones and Jesse Williams are fringe late 1st/early 2nd rounders at this point. Their play/combine will go a long way in determining where they eventually fall.
As it stands, Robert Lester and Chance Warmack will probably only be 2nd rounders. Unless they blow up the combine, their measurables limit them to 2nd round status.
Michael Williams, Quinton Dial and Damion Square could all fall anywhere between the 3-5th rounds.
As far as guys like Eddie Lacey and AJ McCarron go, it is very hard to project how their seasons might dictate an early declaration for the draft.
All we are doing is speculating and voicing opinions here but as far as McCarron goes I think he's going to be a four year player but if I was an NFL GM I would take McCarron all day long and twice on Sunday over the likes of Weeden and Tannehill and thats after this soph season.
As for Nico, I think that he is a fantastic LB who has had to play behind 1st rounders for 3 years. He has the height, weight, speed and football ability to be a pro bowl type NFL LB. Since he has not started, he will need a strong year and a good high visibility team NC run to get noticed.
Dial has all the tools. He just needs a "turn it on" year. Whitney Merciless had two sacks before this year and no one knew who he was.
As for this year, I think someone is going to get a steal in Jerrell Harris. Kid can play but never really fit a high vis role here. Certainly played well in the NC game.
** Future underrated draft steal: Jalston Fowler. He has 100 times the running instincts and abilities of Leron McClain and is nearly the same size. I see Fowler being a 10 year NFL guy barring injury while barely playing in 4 years at Bama.
What do you guys think about Adrain Hubbard possibly going in the 1st round? Obviously he would have to put together a good year but he's 6'6/6'7 and he can rush the passer. Any thoughts?
