As most, I watched the game and at most times I felt like throwing a brick at the tv when either of these two started to pour out the Georgia love fest. I usually Like to listen to what Gary has to say because he really does have a pretty good insight on the plays and what all is involved and the thinking concerning the play. But the game was just over the top. The only thing missing were Gary and Vern dressed as Georgia cheerleaders!
As Georgia would score you think Vern was in a porn and he was finishing up his money shot! CBS gives the SEC something that every conference in the nation begs for and thats prime time national exposure. But Good Grief, maybe its time CBS start to look at replacing one or the other. JMO
When the replay showed the blatant hold, and non-call, on Mosely, Danielson shrugged it off by saying, "It happens." Williams' injury was due to a chop by UGA #72 and neither of them mentioned it. I don't know what station is carrying the title game but if it's ABC then expect Mussburger to make those guys look objective.
I think fans tend to minimize the excited calls for their team and maximize the ones for the other team. They also forget that it's generally the network's job to hype the underdog.
Verne and Gary were going gaga over our run game last night and were quite excited on a number of our touchdowns.
It will be Herbie and Musburger.
I for one, did not think such a thing.
If you were to visit the UGA message boards, you'd see similar notions.
My only deal is the way they railed on Dial
I rewatched the game and both had he same level of enthusiasm for both teams and big plays.
Hey when your on top everyone wants to see you knocked off. Roll Tide we're still on top.
It's possible. I've been critical because it seems that whenever any other team makes a big play they seem to get ecstatic but are fairly subdued when Bama does. But yesterday it occured to me that the reason might be because I'm yelling and can't hear them. So, it's possible. but it seems they tend to favor the other team.
They can't just talk about how wonderful we are for 60 minutes, or they venture into Dick Vitale/Duke territory. I thought they were fine. Georgie playing toe-to-toe with us was a compelling part of the story we were seeing unfold and they were talking about it. They were fine in my opinion.
I thought they did a fine job as usual. Of course, I'm not the paranoid type.
I didn't notice anything over the top and haven't all season. It seems to be one of these posts every week. I do not get the hate for Verne & Gary. I always liked Verne, especially when Blackledge was with him. The only complaint I would have for Gary is that I don't like the sound of his voice. He is knowledgeable.
Best advice I could give to everyone hating on CBS announcers would be to listen to Eli while watching the game.

Most over the top annoying to me was when they were Verne was talking about Lacy & Yeldon being the CBS players of the game & Gary's only response is, "but you have to give credit to Aaron Murray"....Seriously? Gary knows he hates Bama and calls the game for our opponent being the underdog every game & always try to find one issue Bama has and repeat it like a broken record for 3 hours.
The amazing part of this to me - and I too think they both would have loved for UGA to win last night......
We BAMA fans hear it against us...
UGA fans hear it against them...
and au fans hear it totally PRO-BAMA.
Most teams fans always feel the announcers are not in their corner and certainly the refs are screwing them, regardless of which is actually true or not? I've always thought this was interesting how groups of people depending on who they root for can hear the same things so differently...and watch the same thing and see completely different outcomes.
All good points. But as for me I cant stand Vern's incompetence and Gary's blatant attitude against Bama. I have been hearing complaints on these two for the past 4 years. Once is forgivable twice is aggravating but 4 years is a pattern so everybody cant be wrong. I dont expect them to be homers but come on man.
GD can blow me.
Burn baby burn. & Go to hell tennessee
GD can blow me.
I think Gary is a knowledgable analyst. However, I think he gets a chub for any team that has the potential to beat Bama
