It's hard to have a civil chat on here. I like your post and initial conversation starter, but unfortunately when I saw the topic as I see man others like this, you just cringe knowing someone is going to get "flamed" or better yet incinerated.
To answer your post though, I think Mike S. did restore some discipline within the org which made it a little easier for Harbough to build upon initially, but Coach Harbough deserves the credit from that point out over the last four years. Otherwise, he would have had to restore the discipline in addition to the building he's done.
I see Coach Croom at MSU the same way. It's the initial restoration of stability and discipline but the coaches there deserve the credit for what they've done from that point on.
Zero. Just like the classic new coach is winning with old coach's players. If the old coach had won with those same players he never would've been fired. I think it says more that the old coach didn't know what he was doing when a new coach can take the players he was losing with to the Super Bowl.

Also probably means GM should get a little credit because he obviously was bringing in talent when MS was there. The results on the field just weren't there
