Honestly... not a whole lot more IMO. He did well at another program and I think we should all accept that. Plus, I'm pretty sure we were recruiting him as a safety only... Never even knew about the WR angle until he started playing that role for Cal.
Not much. He did well at Cal and I'm happy for the guy.
It also depends on what he got while at CAL Might be in the black already. (g)
Mercy! Can you people please get over Keenan Allen. You act like he was your first piece!
Lol well said! +1
Seriously. The guy did well for himself. Alabama prepares players for the league better than most.... doesn't mean the other places don't prepare them at all. If you notice, other schools have players drafted too. He may have been lost on the depth chart at Alabama and not made the draft at all. Plus he played with his brother. He may not have big pretty rings, but I would bet good money that he is losing no sleep about his choice of college.
This is exactly how I feel.
I never post but read BOL daily, and there are a lot of players that would thrive and do well in any system at any college.
BUT...It is fun to wonder the just misses of Nick Saban at Alabama
Greg Ried (FSU) super talent kicked off team Sr year? Needed the process...
Malcolm Mitchell (GA) super talent kid can play D Back lights out..where at UA would he be?
Clowney (USC east) That kid I mean MAN could of won three rings in three years. Period!
And there are many others..you could add to the list... It's fun to play the what if game.
Just one of these misses is the difference in Bama being undefeated since 2008
and no championship for Auburn in 2010.. (still pisses me off)
The what if game is what makes BOL great..

Understand your point and no flame, but the kid is about to go first or second round. I honestly don't think he could've done much better than that. Clowney has a good chance to be the #1 pick next yr and Malcolm Mitchell will be a 1-2 rounder as well. The OP wasn't asking what if in terms of Bamas success, but in terms of the players success and were making the point that kids can make just as much money in the nfl by going to school elsewhere. The odds are just better at Bama currently.
none. he will be the first wr taken off the board. things worked out for mr allen.
And you know what... he got what he really wanted... and something that really probably is priceless... he got to play for a few years with his brother. Good for him.
Actually, there was a lot of talk on this board about him coming in and starting at wide receiver opposite Julio his freshman year. I think he could have played both ways for us. Regardless though, He's probably a top 15 pick which is exactly where he would have been had he come to Bama.
