Here's what's ironic: We see these threads all the time. I have yet to read, however, about someone being asked/told to sit down who then turned around and said something like, "I'm sorry, but when the people in front of me are standing, I have to stand to see."
If you say something like that, it diffuses the whole situation. You come across as sympathizing with the old person behind you, without giving in. And then there's really nothing the old person can say.
On the other hand, if you're like the dumba$$ from Arkansas I mentioned who just wants to stand for three hours straight even when everyone in front of him is sitting...well, expect to get treated like a dumba$$...even if the older person behind you is also a dumba$$. And 65 year old dumba$$es are more experienced at being dumba$$e$, so that's not a battle you're going to win...unless you view posting thread on a message board and whining like a girl is somehow "winning" in your mind.

You will be a blue hair one day deaux 68. I am 70 years old and people stand in front of me. I stand as much as i can, but don't knock the older fans. I saw my first Bama game in 1958, so i feel i have earned the right to be in that stadium. Some posters even said have a section for older people. You probably think we should watch in nursing home. Just my two cents worth for the older fans..
Being an old fart is better than the alternative. Show some respect. You too, if you are fortunate, will become an old fart one day.
Well you may have been shaking it in their view of the game. If you must shake one, do it in front of you not at the eye level of the person behind you.
I will sit and stand when it is warrented. I do know there is a handicap section for people who can not stand. Just an idea, but wouldn't it be nice for the ones who are unable to stand to sit in this section? The way I look at it also, if they can walk from the parking lots to the game then they are able to stand somewhat. Most of the parking is a good distance from the stadium. I have a bad leg(from breaking it 2 years ago) and I have a hard time walking & standing but I pull for my boys when I am expected & needed too.
I had something similar happen. I was told to sit down. I said no i m standing and cheering for my team the opposing team is on our 20. Not to mention the next 15 rows below us were all standing aswell. I turned around then thye started pushing me and pulling on my shirt while yelling at me to sit down and calling me names. The older guy went to get the cops to get me to sit down and the younger guy kept at it. older guy comes back of course with no cops. Im still standing. He yells right in my ear Your just a Punk!. I turned around and said if you wanted to sit on your a$$ all game you shoulda stayed in your freaking lazyboy at home.Do not touch me again or ill go get the cops and this time they will show up. They didnt say anything for the rest of the game.
Don't know if this was in reply to my post, but if so I was including myself in the old fart category and defending the right to sit and stand as one pleases. Sorry if the point wasn't clear. And yes, it surely beats the alternative.
