5th year Sr. and leader on defense play as poorly as Robert Lester did tonight?
He has always taken poor angles.......but damn.
Let TE go right by him on 1st TD.
Got turned around and toasted on their last TD drive.
He was bad out of place tonight. I think he is trying to do too much in the secondary. I think he is trying to help others too much and not doing his job first.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
Letting the Tight end go by on their 1st TD had me baffled. When I saw it live, I assumed Perry had blown another coverage. On the replay my jaw dropped watching Lester let him go.
Lester didn't let him go, he was on a delayed blitz and stopped in traffic. Technically it was Depriest and Perry's resposibility. Mostly I put that one on coaching staff. Also we had so many mental mistakes tonight, but amazed how are guys buckled down and enforced their will to win the game.

On the Rome td catch,it was a bad play called that had Lester in no man's land.On the King catch,Lester was badly burned toast.our safety play could improve,Perry has not been a playmaker all year, would love to see how Landon Collins and Eddie Williams would do if given a chance next year
if Saban has a fault this is it....playing seniority in place of talent. This is a case of it...as well as Perry.
its not playing by seniority its playing the guys who understand the defense
Roll Tide to Her
Our secondary went from being questionable to now being a huge liability. Notre Dame isn't going to be as easy as some folks think.
Lester was out of place on a few plays. The one thing that has always baffled me about Lester is that he's not the greatest tackler in the world. He goes high and likes to swing the guy down. Never really drives through a guys hips.
Do y'all think we have a chance against the mighty ND? With our poor defense maybe we ought to let Georgia go in our place since we might not win. I will take our defense backfield over ND. We are going to win #15 so quit crying. RTR
Neither does Perry.
Yeldon and Cooper say hi. I am a huge Collins fan, but he hasn't fully grabbed the defense yet. Watch out for him in the Spring though.
Don't see that at all. It's probably more of having the experience of knowing the defense. Yeah some of these guys might not have the talent as some of the younger ones, but they are much less likely to make a big mistake due to knowing the system.
I suspect that owning the responsibility (and trust) of making the calls in the secondary has a lot to do in Lester's case.
Wow, you really are clueless.
Eat clean. Train Hard.
Guys dont play cause they dont "get it." If they cant understand the calls in practice, then they dont play on Saturday. This has been the case since day 1. Seniority has zero to do with it.
No doubt that Lester and Sunseri were again victimized all day today. Milliner got beat once or twice but was on it. HaHa played as good in coverage as you can ask a safety. Belue, Perry, and Lester were pathetic.
Geno Smith on the otherhand played very very very well for a TF. If we can use Geno in Dime and Fulton in Nickel and can somehow disguise our weakness in coverage with Lester/Sunseri/Perry a little more with better CB play, we'll be alright. Lastly, someone needs to teach Belue how to look for the ball. He's been a weak link like Milliner was in 2010.
It's unfortunate but Lester has been exposed in his final year while being given the opportunity to lead the secondary. Barron was a phenomenal leader and took a ton of pressure off Lester last year. 2010 our secondary looked much like this year.....BUT they didn't have the offensive support.
Like the other guy said: Yeldon & Cooper and Geno Smith played a lot as well and hd two crucial PBU's. What you said is the polar opposite of the truth. If the Frosh can do it better they would be out there. Frankly I have been very surprised at how many Freshmen played key roles for us in CNS year 6.
Lester has been a good player for UA. The fact of the matter is he has had the luxury of playing beside a guy by the name of mark Baron the majority of his career. Love the kid but we will be better of next without him. Makes way too many mental errors and horrible containment at times on the line of scrimmage against the run.

Me too. Playing freshmen usually means several losses. Coach Bryant said for every freshmen you have starting you can count that as a loss during the season. Thank God we are defying that this year. I think a big differnce is how well prepared they are coming out of high school and by them mostly being early enrollees. We have been lucky on special teams though with our return guys. They could have cost us several games this year by fumbling and muffing kicks but thank goodness weve gotten most of them back or overcame them. If we lose that fumble by Cyrus tonight on the kick off that was ball game im afraid. We have to get that nailed down by January and next year for sure.
Cant wait to get this next batch of early enrollees in though. Get em ready coach.
"We're modern-day gladiators, and that mental toughness is really important to have in a good team." Nick Saban
Dumbest thing I have ever heard.
Yeah I was wondering with 5 weeks till the game, could we get Landon Collins on Board to get some real playing time. I love Vinnie, but he just doesn't have the speed necessary for the position he has been playing most of the season. Fulton has been okay, Perry terrible.
