not trade AJ for Matt Barkley, I would not trade ANY of our Oline for any of USC's, and I certainly would not trade our first three running backs for Silas Redd. And after that, they are not in our class. They may win big in the PAC whatever, but their team would be hard pressed to win 6 SEC games. Now I get to wait and see if they prove me wrong.
One step at a time....
Would love to see our boys "make their --- quit" given the opportunity
While I agree with the first part, I think they could make it through the SEC with 9 or 10 wins assuming their non-con was manageable.
UA and LSU are their sure losses, Arky is an unknown and if they dodged UGA and USCe I would say 10 wins barring injury.
Put UGA and USCe on there and it goes down to 7 to 8 wins.
Well, my hypothesis was based on the fact that they wouldn't play enough SEC games to win what you said. They might have the record you stated, but i was talking about SEC games.
Oh. Yeah you're spot on in that case.
Never Gets Old
That team would do just fine in the SEC. The only time they wouldn't be favored big time would be against us and LSU.
And hate to say it but I would certainly take Barkley over any other QB in the country, even ours. He is that good.
You realize it is ok to every once and while admit there is another good player on another team and that some teams play football outside of the SEC?
I'd take Robert Woods.
The thing with taking Barkley over McCarron is that I know AJ can win the big game. I know AJ can beat the LSwho defense. I don't know that about Barkley. I think he can. It looks like he can but since he hasn't faced a defense anywhere near that caliber it is still an unknown.
So, I would take the proven commodity over speculation.
But Robert Woods is a stud.
You must be new here - no one except bama and lsu makes it through the SEC with more than 5 wins...
Both USC receivers also suck...
TBH sounds like most of their defense is made of guys going into their second year as a unit, so that's either good or bad. I'd put their safety up there nationally, but behind Eric Reid.
I love AJ and the performance he gave in the BCSNC game. Wouldn't trade him either. I would trade for their two WR studs though. Saying you wouldn't is just plain ignorant and not honest with yourself.
I think USC is gonna surprise people this fall. Yes they are razor thin relative to depth but if you think for one second that Kiffin is gonna sit back and take 10-14 point victories every Saturday then you are dead wrong. Kiffin knows his depth weakness and he is gonna put the peddle to the floor with that offense to score as many times as possible as fast as possible. Many of their games won't have the first team in the game the full 4 quarters. Some not a full 3.
P.S.- this strategy would obviously not work in the SEC and they would lose at least 3 SEC games.
The thing with Barkley is he has won games w/o an all world defense, AJ hasnt had to lead the team to 40 points to overcome oregon, hes complimented the running game.
I'm excited about AJ just like anyone, but Barkley has proven more at this point. AJ made a couple key throws to carry drives vs lsu, let's not act like he beat them out right.
If we can manage to pass the ball 20-25 times a game and hit our deep routes consistently (not just yac by receivers like last year) -watch the f*k out cause the running game is gonna be nasty
Imagine how well we would have done last year if we had a QB like Barkley.
Oh yeah, we won the national championship. AJ is not perfect but he is getting the job done.
