after our NC in 1992. My how things have changed, this class has the chance to be our overall highest rated class ever. We don't have to get but a couple of the guys left on our board, and it very likely will be. I'm no expert, but at this point I feel sure CNS is using these last few spots for need, rather than rating. It will be interesting to see which players he chooses, cause it is obvious he is choosing at this point. I thought I had already lived through the Golden Age of Bama Football, but I might have been mistaken!

I seriously doubt Saban recruits for rating - ever.
I agree with you, but never discount the effect of being number one in anything. Nick knows that being nr 1 in recruiting is great PR, and carries over to the guys that they are looking at for 2014 and 2015. He actually has the advantage of being able to do both, recruit for rating and need, at this point.

I agree that the PR is big but I'm sure he goes after need not rating. Saban recruits certain types, like big nose guards that don't always get the ratings (Terrance Cody for example) but are essential to our entire defensive scheme.
I think the main reason Nick tries to win games is because it helps in recruiting.
