No reason why we can't be a basketball school as well like TX, UF, and Ohio State. I was talking with some buddies and they agree. Not sure what's happen with Grant and this team. Our defense isn't what it's been the last 2 seasons and I feel like we have the talent to be bettter than we are this year. Flame if you want, but with this being his 4th season we should be better than we are now.

I would like to see Pearl as well but I know he has a show cause penalty from the NCAA right now. When does that expire? Also I hope he has learned his lesson and runs a clean program because as bad as we are right now, Tennessee is just as bad if not worse.
Bama is not going to hire a coach that will have the ncaa sniffing around the program.
I was thinking the same thing last night. I think he'd do well here, and you're right- there's no reason we can't at least be consistently competitive every year!
Pearl is a low class clown. When he got to Tennessee I knew it was just a matter of time before he embarrassed their university.
Exactly and people forget that they weren't anywhere near where they should have been his last few years based off talent.
Weren't we interested in Calipari?
The show cause penalty was put down for 3 years and done in August 2011 i.e. he is pretty much un-hirable until August 2014.
That said, if that were not around his neck I would love to have that guy as our coach. He is a good coach. He recruits well. He plays a fun style of basketball. And for UA purposes, he sells his basketball program, which I think is necessary for our situation (small town where football is #1 with only 1 big city within an hour of Tuscaloosa). I really wish challenging the "show cause" penalty thing was as simple as saying "cause our basketball team is bad". (and that will be the case no matter if we win or lose against UT today).
