......I was pretty shocked at just how well Georgia Tech was blocking Georgia's D lineman. And I'm talking about straight ahead blocking with kids giving up some weight. I think Barrett will do well against Jenkins and that should set the table for us to run inside the tackles. And of course that will open up the run.
Defensively I can't see them running on us very effectively with their inexperience. Like it's been said their weakness is in the O line and a weak O line usually means they will throw it more, because everyone knows it's easier to pass block than run block. I think we'll make them one dimensional and go nickle or dime with some blitzes to get pressure. I big key will be how much we have to bring our secondary or LB's to get pressure. We've had trouble at times with our front doing so, and it's set up some miss matches on our safeties. Gino Smith may play a very big part this week if he plays like last week. I believe in this kid after watching limited practice video with our other db's. If you watch his feet and how quick he comes out of his breaks there might not be any better on the team.
Anyway, I was sweating this game until tonight. I still understand we can be beat, but if Georgia doesn't man up more in the trenches we should win the ball game. Maybe not going away, but a win non the less.....
I'd be extremely happy with a 1 point win.
Georgia made a point to strip the Tech RB's instead of going straight for the tackle.
Hell of a strategy, considering this "stripping" wasn't taking place until the ball carrier reached the secondary.
A win is a win is a win this weekend. No injuries, just win and we're in. I'm with ya.

Their Dline is not very good. One of the weaknesses on the team. We should get a push.
One thing I noticed is their ability to set up 3rd down and short consistently starting off with passing for short yardage on first down and then picking 3-4 hard yards on 2nd with a run. As we all know 3rd and short is extremely difficult to stop when the short passing and running game is on. After the defense gets sucked into the trap they go play action deep to x or y wrs or slip the TE out with a lb in coverage for a big play or a td. We have to stop that short passing game or we are in for a long night. Everything they do offensively starts with that due to their inability to block consistently in the run game, largely because of the inexperience at that position as well. Their offense is considered a pro style but the play calling and how each play previous plays is almost a spread or what most call a west coast offense.
I agree Goo. Just 1 point better. Although not sure if I could handle it.
I think we come from behind again and take it 27-21.
I can't handle anymore close games.
Did you also notice how poorly their linebackers take on blocks? They essentially run backwards, giving up a few extra yards. They will be tough, but I noticed this while watching them a few times.
Your right & some trying to strip the ball is nothing new for Alabama's RB's. like the OP I was surprised how easily Georgia Tech was able to block UGA's DL.
Just hope TJY keeps it high and tight. Can't be killing drives on the 5.
