God Bless Ozzie Newsome. I love that man.
Our next AD when Mal decides to call it a day.
That would be beyond incredible
Obama doesn't keep up with recruiting, he had a staffer hand him a briefing with research and talking points for this call. There is no way Obama follows Alabama recruiting that closely.

We are VERY VERY lucky to have Ozzie Newsome as a representative of our university! Thanks for sharing. RTR Ozzie Newsome!
That's nice publicity.
I hope so.
AD Hell, University of Alabama President.
Just enjoy the fact that the President talked about Bama football recruiting,,, It gets no bigger than that... Obama is a sports fan.. who knows.
would love to see it, but would be a significant pay cut for Ozzie. Not sure it is a cut and dried "done deal" he would come.
And that will be O.K. But,I don't mind if Mal sticks around awhile longer

Why not? I mean, he meets with our football players annually. Maybe he's just proactively learning the names of the new guys.
I seriously doubt that a staffer gave him info about college recruiting in preparing for a call with the Baltimore ravens. That just makes no sense. Plus, if you listened to the call, Obama sounded unprepared and as if he was winging it. Moreover it was Ozzie that brought up Alabama, not Obama. Finally, Obama has often said that his wife doesn't let him watch news in the morning; he watches sportscenter instead. This morning sportscenter had a segment about RF. He likely saw that segment, so this probably explains why Obama was aware of RF's recruitment.
Pretty hilarious Obama brought up Foster. It would have been pretty impressive foresight to have a staffer research Bama recruiting before a call to the Ravens.
Obama is a sports fan. I figure like a lot of guys, he probably starts the day off reading the sports page with his coffee. I've been doing that since I has 5 (except without the coffee). With Foster being the top linebacker, going Bama/ Auburn/ Bama, and having an AU tattoo; that's the type of story a sports guy would stumble upon .
He played at Colbert County. Just think about Colbert County at that time. They had Leon Douglas and Ozzie there at the same time, a few classes apart. Top three legacy players in football and basketball of all time for Bama, at Leighton at the same time. Top three to me at least, definitely top five.
My dad spotted Ozzie playing basketball one day at a park and got him enrolled at Leighton lol. My dad had a good eye for talent. Pretty good recruiting steal. Ozzie and Leon played together on the bball team.
Kinda strange that pipeline has dried up recently.

"So you're going to take credit for the Crimson, as well as the Ravens, huh?" Obama said."Mr. President, he always does," Harbaugh said."I work for two teams, Mr. President," Newsome said.Obama then made reference to the news that Foster, a five-star linebacker from Auburn High School, had announced his decision to commit to Alabama. "You guys just got another draft pick down there. A guy who already tattooed Auburn on his arm and then decided to go to Alabama instead," Obama said."He did the same thing I did," Newsome responded. "I committed to Auburn and I changed my mind. It happens all the time down there. It only counts on signing day."
They don't call him "The Wizard of OZ" for nuthin',
