They are in a dead period right? But as long as the recruit initiates the conversation they can speak on the phone correct? How does it work if they are actually on campus?
I am not anywhere close to knowing the ins and outs of recruiting rules...just the few well known ones we talk about on here often. But, I remember something about if a recruit initiates a talk, its OK??? Even something about passing by and accidentally (g) running into each other they can talk.???
Not knowing for sure how the rules go, I would be surprised if there isn't some way a head coach can speak to a recruit while on campus? But then again, there are some out there rules.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
I've posted this a couple of times in recent threads but it bears repeating here since those were buried deep in threads. Dead periods / quiet periods only impact in-person contact. In dead periods, no in-person contact can take place ANYWHERE. In quiet periods, in-person contact can only occur on the institution's campus. Phone calls can continue unaffected by dead / quiet period. They have their own rules (with few exceptions, one call per week initiated by the institution and unlimited if initiated by the recruit). So, they can have no in-person contact.
Edit for "bump rule" comment: Since it was mentioned about CNS possibly "bumping" into RF, I believe there would be no violation there as long as the conversation was brief and dealt with simple greetings, etc. It wouldn't surprise me at all for the two of them to "bump" into one another.

Good stuff. THANKS....
Thanks great info.
What is a dead period?
During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period.
Ok somebody needs to be at the game and tell RF to face the wall and let CS talk to him
(This would eliminate the possible face to face).(g)

or walkie talkies
Speaking of walkie talkies....(sp) (g) with it being the Holidays, how many remember the first walkies we all might have had, black or dark gray with the big orange button and orange tipped antenna? Had Morse code for each letter listed on the front. Man, those were the gift for christmas. I thought I could talk to the world when I got those.
LOL (g) anyone under 28-30 has no clue what I'm talking about.

Well I guess I'm telling my age because I had a set. We had a blast with those !
How can RF come to a game Sunday, when he's suppose to report too the UA Allstar Game?
This. He may be on campus before Sunday, but he's flying out of Atlanta for Orlando on Sunday. He won't be at the basketball game.
