head coaching vacancy, I would like to see Sunseri back as the DC. What is everyone else's thoughts?
Not sure if serious
Based on his performance this year as a DC, I don't see any way you take that risk. At times (most times, actually) he's looked completely clueless on the sideline.
I would, however, love to see him come back in his old role if any of our other defensive assistants leave and we're able to shuffle folks around. He's a hell of a recruiter, the players love him and he's a fantastic position coach.
I'd want him back as a positions coach but I think lance gets the nod over sal based uts atrociously bad d this year, his fault or not
Yea, what he said.^^^
Follow me on twitter, @BSCTIDE. Let's tweet.
yeah..... uh not a chance. I love Sal but not as a dc
There is no way in hell Lance Thompson is ever going to be the DC at Alabama.
You can't blame sal for UT's defense. They have zero talent.
I think that's why Sal left last year to go to UT as DC...he knew he wasn't going to become the eventual DC at Alabama when CKS left. Good coach but I don't think he comes back as DC.
They're worse than they were last year under Wilcox, and I'd hazard that they're actually worse right now than they were when Sal took over at the beginning of the season. They're going backwards.
They're completely lost. I live in TN and have plenty of UT friends, and they're actually directing more of their hate to Sal than they are Dooley right now. In no uncertain terms they say that whether Dooley is fired or not (he will be) that Sal is out the door.
They gave up 700+ yards - the most in the history of their program - to TROY.
I'm going to say probably not. Maybe a lb coach again but not as dc.
I'd like to see Smart go to UK to let him cut his teeth and get experience as head coach if he's to return as HC at Bama. If he goes to Tenn, I can't see him returning.
As far as DC goes, I would have to think Pruitt would atleast be considered. More of a chance JC gets it over a Lance Thompson.
He switched to a 3-4 and UT insiders are saying the kids haven't bought in to it. Hard to judge a guy off of one year. Especially when there is no talent and a new system.
I'd like to see Pruitt get promoted to DC. Coach Sunseri will be fine. He can come back and be a consultant if he wants. He will be getting paid serious money for the next 2 years regardless.
Sal has two years left on his UT contract and Vinnie's got two years of eligibility left. Perfect scenario for Sal and Mama Sunseri move back to T-Town and ride out the next two years with Vinnie. Sal can help out around the football complex on a volunteer basis since he doesn't have to worry about a paycheck. (wink wink).
I would have to read the contract, but it most likely wouldn't work that way. Sal probably has an obligation to seek employment during that next two year period and whatever he makes in that employment would be deducted from what UT owes him.
This may or may not be true. It's irrelevant. There are lots of potential reasons Tennessee's defense is so bad but you can't take a risk based on conjecture. If we hire another school's DC as our own, it will be someone who runs a similar scheme and has had success. For obvious reasons, we're much more likely to promote from within (Pruitt seems to be the popular name).
It was clear that Sal was next in line for our DC job. If Saban was confident in his ability I would be as well.
no, it wasn't.
