Imagine if LSU misses on Dupre too

  • With Noil heading to A&M if they miss on Dupre. Haven't seen their wr depth chart but losing Beckam Jr and Landry. Not sure if Boone was a sr or not but losing all that and then whiffing on the two 5 star wrs in their own backyard. Wow just wow. Not to mention all the players we got from LA. I think this years class is beyond special but even with my lofty expectations. I can't put a ceiling on where this class could take us.

  • They sure were chirping early on about this class. I expected them to sign almost all of them but they've really choked. It could have been an all time great for LSU but it looks like (as always) we'll claim that glory for ourselves.

  • It would be #2for10, or something like that

  • I was reading the LSU board a couple of days ago and a lot of fans are very upset with their coaching staff with recruiting. The sentiment seems to be that LSU had a stellar class of HS recruits coming out of Louisiana and even if they get Dupre, it is not acceptable with all the homegrown talent that has left the state.

I called all this on TBB back last summer when they were tooting their potential class's horn. I said they'd probably get the majority of their defensive targets but would whiff on most of these offensive targets, especially the wrs and Cam. LSU's offense had been just terrible at developing elite talent at those spots and/or utilizing them. Who would want to play in LSUs offense besides big rbs? I guess I'm a little surprised kinda that they still might whiff on Noil and Dupre even after the year Beckham and Landry had. Something else isn't quite right about LSU at the moment. Not sure if it's lack of recruiting talent by coaches, or Les baffling recruits and parents during visits where he's lost in translation, or just a program losing some of its luster because of the losses by our hand. But I could see this coming, especially with them not knowing who their qb would be. To me LSU just didn't have the momentum going or program buzz needed to land a class like they were talking about. It feels good knowing we've still got it and have had it for a long time now. It takes a steady leader with a defined program with a unified message that's proven to pull that together every year.

They were one commit away from this being a complete disaster in recruiting. If they would have lost Fournette to us I don't think you could have drawn up a bigger disaster for letting home grown five star players escape. It was huge for us getting CRob and Brown away from them. Hootie was a bonus. And not going after Sims was a mistake on their part. They could have evened the playing field going forward with the 8 five stars they were hoping for. Getting those two guys firmly kept us ahead in the race and their failure to lock up some of the others will lose them the war. At least the talent war. As we all know player motivation and buying in is just as important if not more.

  • They have every right to be upset. Their top 10 in-state guys alone were all ranked in the Top 100 nationwide & 90% were in the Top 50 depending on whether you use composite or 247 individual rankings.

They lose Cam Rob, Cam Sims & Hootie to us. Noil to A&M. Willis, whose Mom we know was pushing hard for LSU, was lost to the Gators which stung even more after losing Landon to us previously. They really expected to land Willis, especially earlier on in the process.

If they miss out on Dupre as well, it's yet another huge disappointment. Either way, they went in expecting to land an all-time great class & the majority of Corndogs are furious & rightfully so.

Lesticles & the boys dropped the ball big-time this year & I love it! Imagine having your entire top 10 in-state guys in the top 50 and not even pulling in half the class? That's a tremendous disappointment no matter how they try to spin it!

  • #2for6
Earlier in the process I really thought this LSU class was gonna end up being the greatest of all time. Thanks Les!

    49-0

  • Not only should Dupre be looking at the depth chart, but also who will be throwing him the ball the next few years..Anthony Jennings at LSU or Jacob Coker, Cooper Bateman, David Cornwell, or Ricky Town at Bama? headslap

LSU has a stud QB in this year's class too. Jennings has done as much in college so far as Coker, and I'm pretty sure a kid in Town that won't even sign for more than a year isn't factoring into Dupre's plans.

Lsu hasn't been successful developing wr's? Ummmm no.
    Devery Henderson
    Duane Bowe
    Demetrius Byrd
    Jojo Lafel
    Terrance Tolliver
    Ruben Randle
    Odell B jr
    Jarvis Landry
And probably some others I'm forgetting. I for one am extremely surprised they missed on Noil, and will be if they miss on Dupree, I hope they do miss of course. #easternmigration

  • Every time I hear the word imagine I cringe.

The funny part about this, is they decided to go after the HS guys and slow play D'Haquille Williams. LSU seemed to think they'd get all of their WR targets and therefore didnt wont tobscare anyone off with signing Williams. Williams signed with Auburn and enrolled, and then shortly after, Noil picked A&M. If Dupree ends up elsewhere, there gamble didnt pay off. Also, it looks like Quinn may visit Ole Miss and they think they are a player for him.

  • This class alone..
    They lost
Hootie Jones S (4*) yes they wanted him at first
    Cam Sims WR (4*)
    Cam Robinson LT (5*)
    D Willis De/DT (5*)
    Speedy Noil WR (5*)
Tony Brown DB (5*) originally from LA but was a LSU lock
Malachi Dupree WR (5*) probably going Bama or fsu

Buzz is important. When Vincent Bo was coming out of McAdory Bear wanted him. We were having some behavioral problems and Coach Bryant was approaching what everyone knew would be the end of his unspeakably successful career. Mama Bo tilted the field to the Aubies. There were undertones of not wanting him around folks that might misbehave. LSwho has had those issues. It may be hurting them with homegrown talent. To that end, I hope we can settle ours down because mamas and daddies don't like to see it.

  • Rightfully so, if they miss on Dupre they will have missed on 4 of the top 5 and 6 of the top 10 in-state prospects, and all to other SEC schools.

You are just completely wrong and apparently don't watch any other football besides Alabama. TBB must have laughed at your post on LSU's incompetence.

Makes it funnier that they could have had Dhaquille Williams if not passing on him with the assumption that they were getting Noil and Dupre.
