playoff berth because the committee has to consider conference championships. I think that is a fair way to look at it. What say ye?
"I really believe, in my lifetime, that this is the best dynasty that I've ever seen in college football." - @KirkHerbstreit 1/8/13
yup, F the golden homos
Seriously though, will they be eligible to play in the ACCCCG next year or whenever they pseudo-join the conference?
They'll get in with an undefeated record, just like teams from the Big 12.
Have they decided that ONLY conference champs can make the playoffs? I thought the push was to NOT limit the teams to only conference champs. If its only conference champs that sux.
Hahahaha, keep dreaming. Also keep telling yourself that Notre Dame wasn't one of the major reasons conference championships aren't required.
To answer the other questions, they aren't joining the ACC in football (they don't even play a full ACC schedule) and it was decided long ago that conference championships would not be a requirement.
They will make an exception for ND..they always do for some reason.
Ronald Reagan: Man is not free unless government is limited.
In the new playoff format, Notre Dame will almost always get a playoff berth.
a)Kelly is not a bad coach
b)they are improving their recruiting
c)instead of beating lackluster B10 teams they will beat lackluster ACC teams
If ND has only one loss they will one of sthe playoff berth. They are keeping Navy, prob. Air Force. Will see what they do if they have to face Clemson and FSU back to back...although more than likely it'll be Wake Forest and MD back to back.
IMO two of the 4 spots should always go to SEC teams.
Thought that nd was acc except football.
They have to play 5 ACC schools a year.

The problem I have with that scenario is that hypothetically, a Big East conference champion, who has a very weak strength of schedule has a advantage over Notre Dame, possessing a stronger strength of schedule.
Even worse, an SEC conference runner-up would take the back seat to the Big East champion (same strengths as above). This system has the potential of being so bad for college football.
In 2014 when they join the ACC, the arrangement is in football they will play 5 ACC schools a year and I think play everybody at least once every 3 years. They will not be included in the ACC standings as they are still independent in football. They will also just as in Big East be part of the ACC bowl lineup.
It is not conference champs only but the 14-20 selection committee are supposed to consider that in their criteria.
The Big East beginning in 2014 when playoffs start will lose their automatic qualifying status. The Big East champion will have almost no shot.
There will be a time on this board in the near future that everyone will be raising hell because a one lost ND beat out a one lost SEC team. Mark it down, it will happen. They have always got preferential treatment. RTR
wow that will be an impressive schedule.
MSU - highly overrated more often than not
Michigan- mediocre at beast for years
Purdue - pathetic
and...Wake,B.C.,NC St,Miami,& Duke
throw in Army & Navy and you've got a solid MAC slate
It would be difficult for anyone to dislike the golden homos' more I do. Because I am older than most and it was instilled in me at birth. But never forget:
1. Those champions of "mythmaking" managed to stay relevant through 25 years of football incompetence through the media's love.
2. They were awarded a set at the NCAA decision table through those 25 of irrelevance.
3. The fact that they were a completely unqualified representative in the NC game means nothing to the media or NCAA. They will continue to get mentioned for any and every award any bowl possible.
4. Get ready for a sickening 365 delusional discussion of how great the golden homo's
