I have been @ Iron Tribe Fitness in Birmingham since June & have lost nearly 30lbs. I have worked out with several personal trainers over the years all with different philosphies but nothing has compared to ITF. They are opening in 30-60 days in Tuscaloosa probably the downtown area & a former UA coach will be running that location.

Though I am an old football player 5'11 210lbs, I have somehow produced a son who 6'3" 155lbs and is being recruited to colleges as a lightweight rower - taking officials to Princeton, Harvard, Yale and Penn (obviously I'm a proud dad). They use a machine for training - the Erg machine - that simulates rowing. I have begun using it as my main form of workout, and it is the best workout I've ever done. You not only get a tremendous cardio workout, but it does great things to your body - legs, butt, core, triceps. And you only need about 30 minutes to complete a good workout. A few key things: 1. The machine needs to be a Concept 2 machine (brand name); it is the standard machine that all rowers use; 2. You need someone to train you the first couple of times to show you proper technique and how to use the electronic dashboard to program your workout. I typically do the following intervals with 2 minutes rest in between (all of which I program into the machine): 2,500K, 2000K; 1500K; 1000K; 500K. Sometimes I will do a 5K test (my best time is 19:32). This machine is great. Good Luck!
Is your son a rower? Is that where that exercise comes from? Congrats and good luck to him and hope he gets an opportunity at one of the schools
Anyone ever gone to Crossfit Eastern Shore in Daphne?
