"I think Barron is the better player...You take the better player. He has the better ball skills and he's a safety."
Mel Kiper - ESPN Draft Expert
In the end it's a slow day and they'll both be first rounders so it really doesn't matter, but what do you think?

I think Barron would definately be a lower risk pick.
As a cowboy fan, I would rather Barron than Dre. I've always felt Dre to be a little overrated.
That said we better draft a CB with our 2nd pick. We need DL and DB help badly
to me they're about the same. just depends on the team. both have their weakness but it's also the exact opposite of the other. If I'm just needing secondary in general, i'd go with Barron FWIW.
IMO, I would go with Barron. He's one of my favorites. He just goes out and plays the game. No mouth talking, or trying to 'do the most'

I agree with the rest of the Bama brothers in this thread that Barron seems to me a safer, surer pick. But as you mentioned, they're both 1st round talents so in doesn't matter all that much.
I certainly think Barron is the better player and better prospect, but Safeties just aren't as valuable in the NFL as a lockdown corner. A lot of teams will let a corner grow into a safety position on the back end of their career before drafting one early on. It'll end up better for Barron though, his inital contract may be for less but he'll land on a better team.
exactly. it just depends on the team. if I'm the Jets I"m taking Barron to have that safety help behind Cro/Revis. If I'm someone needing a corner, I'd go with Dre in a heartbeat.
NFL teams need big defense backs now with the TE craze. Need someone big enough to hit a Gronkowski or Graham crossing over the middle and de-cleat them. TNFLA talked about this above. Safeties will become a lot more valuable over the next few years IMO.

If Barron is a legit 6-foot-2, then with his height and other measurables, he is going to be in for a pay day. Safeties like him are still in high demand. Each of the NFC Pro Bowl safeties this year measured in at 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-3. He's at more of a premium than some of you are giving him credit for.
The big thing with him right now is this sports hernia injury as far as effecting him in the draft.
Barron is the safer pick imo.
