each year... Last year, all I heard from national commentators and national news folks was all you have to do is run the option like Georgia Southern and LSU will win.. no one mentioned that a couple of starting DLs that did not play GSU game
This year, Everett Golson should have a great game and create problems because of what Manziel was able to do to Bama... OK, this happened for one half.... and a couple of young starters (Hubbard and sunseri) blow a couple of key assignments, in the first half. AND Bama has made a change since that game by plugging in Geno Smith to account the slot receiver that was open.
I guess 25 days of hearing the same elementary stuff has worn me out.... now, i just change the channel with the ESPN sidebar let's me know BCS talk is next.

Not any lazier than a certain poster failing to look up the correct first name of Notre Dame's quarterback.
Don't get paid to spell his name correctly.... or write about it
IF IT FEELS GOOD,YOU AIN'T DOING IT RIGHT!
I don't think they're lazy. I think they HAVE to have talking points to build interest in the games.
If you listen to Herbstreit or Danielson on Finebaum, you'd be amazed at how well they know our 2 or even 3 deep. And it's not just us, it's for many other schools as well. You're not able to immediately draw out details of plays made by our 3rd or 4th string RB or capabilities of our backup LBs without doing your homework.
To build interest in a game, however, they tend to harp on things that the average fan would find interesting. They tend to pump up talking points of stuff you'd generally read on message boards. Their target isn't the discerning fan, they know you'll watch. Their target is the least common denominator. If ONLY the hardcore fans were interested, they'd never make any money.
Hey, it's a better argument than organized lockers. Gotta have something to talk about

That's a fine post sir and absolutely correct. It still gets annoying though. +1
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Cor 10:4
I get what you are saying and feel your pain. Keep in mind, that "E" stands for Entertainment in ESPN so they are sometimes a little too concerned with that.
Seriously, if our defensive backfield doesn't clean up their dorm rooms....we're screwed.
I saw that segment. Ridiculous to say the least.
Finebaum couldnt name 5 players on Bama's team.
Can I get some cliffs notes on the organized locker room and dorm room chatters? Lol thanks. Need to know!
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
Golson is more like Tyrod Taylor than he is Johnny Football.
Kirk said on SC that AJ has played in two SEC champ games. They can't get every detail and watch film on every team. Granted, with it being the BCSCG they should do a little more digging but they're not exactly wrong to say that a hot QB can expose Bama's D, a hot QB could expose any D, that's the way the game has changed. JMO but it's hard to have fresh material when you do 20+ shows between the last game and the next one.
I, however, do not think Golson is talented enough to expose Bama, but I thought the same thing about Mettenberger. So, grain of salt
Finebaum couldn't name 5 positions on the football field. He's not lazy, he just doesn't particularly care for sports.
I think most espn folks believe Bama will win but the game is on their network so to push for as many viewers to open the game as possible they have to push the Irish as a major threat to win the ballgame.
If they came out and admitted Bama was a prohibitive favorite to win the game they'd be doing a poor job of selling their product. Sell the story of the once great Notre Dame programs return to prominence against a dominant Alabama program and you bring in viewers galore.
