I don't get why everyone thinks he is a "selfish" player. Maybe you guys can remind me of examples in the past where he's put himself before the team, but I can't really think of any. I do think he has composure issues and that shows on the court in his game and the way he responds to opposing players at times. That said, I think the guy truly cares about his teammates and, at least recently, I see no signs of him loafing or whining because he isn't getting the ball or whatever. He seems to play hard(but sometimes stupid) when he's on the court.
I'll add to this that I have no idea what he did to be suspended this time or in previous suspensions.

Couple of comments that show he might be selfish. One you said RECENTLY he has shown care for his teammates. What about all the others games? A manager is not a teammate but I have seen some pretty crappy treatment towards them when he gets in foul trouble. Two, he did loaf up and down the floor especially when he thought he got fouled and it wasn't called. He was too worried about talking to the ref then getting back on D. Three, he whined all the time, maybe not due to getting the ball but because a call didn't go his way.

I saw him at McDonald's one night and he wouldn't share his fries with Lacy. That is 100% selfishness.
This is just my opinion, but, This statement, right here, shows me that he is selfish. He has been suspended multiple times. Do you know how you get suspended. You do selfish, and stupid things. I consider him a selfish player because he decided to act in a manner that has gotten him suspended during what is the most important part of the season, and because of that the team is short a consistent scorer.
thats not selfish...dumb?? maybe..but not selfish...he's made some bad decisions for sure off the floor, but his play on the court is not selfish
He has not been able to play the game. That is selfish, because of his selfish acts his team is without him. To me that is the very def. of selfish. To put yourself before the team. To not think of the consequences of his action.
I can see how your opinion can differ and you can consider it Dumb, and not selfish. I just feel that getting suspended multiple times and not being able to help your team during practice and games makes him a selfish person.
Lets not kid ourselves and pretend like Green is a model team player, and lets not kid ourselves and pretend that Green isnt by far our best post player. Hopefully he understands that he only has a few games left in crimson, and acts accordingly.
I rarely eat shellfish anymore.
Based on what we can see on the court, he's a team player...Not perfect by far but he's not selfish on the court..I dont think he shoots enough to be honest...I know he's a an emotional guy and that probably is whats keeping him in trouble off the court..I think he's a good kid who has made some mistakes..Just like me when I was his age...I wouldnt want my rap sheet from my days at UA posted here..I was suspended twice from UA myself...I didnt do anything that would get you arrested but women and other things kept me in trouble until I got it together..
I wasn't gonna start a thread on this, but I just participated in a conversation with a co-worker who roasted Green to his own father. Green's father was a railroader, and we processed his retirement. From Mr. Green, "Grant just doesn't want Jamychal to be a lottery pick." My coworker, "He wasn't going to be a lottery pick anyway, he is a senior, and seniors are never lottery picks." He went on to talk about how Green played dirty in high school, but the refs never would make the calls. He went to Alabama feeling entitled. Evidently Gottfried knew that he had a problem child on his hands, and Grant isn't gonna put up with what Gottfried would have. They discussed Green having both on campus and city police called to his residence for disturbance, and how his attitude will affect his draft status. They talked about Green trying to carry his Montgomery buddies with him to the NBA just like Allen Iverson did.
I knew better than to get involved in a conversation between 2 old buddies, but I found it interesting that Mr. Green didn't dispute the frank assessment of his son by my co-worker.
