Went back and forth....Interesting!!
HAMILTON, Ga. -- One of the key moments of UGAs No. 1 prospect picked the Dogs. Jordan Jenkins and his father relive the details
In one breath he says it wasn't about depth charts and in the next breath he says they were anaylzing depth charts. This decision was all about DEPTH CHARTS.
You doth protest too much about depth charts.
How many times does his dad have to say "depth chart?" Sounds like it was an issue for his dad.
Seeing that the other kids we signed didn't worry about depth charts, Jenkins will be a good match for the dawgs.
Sounds to me like dad and family wanted him at Florida or Georgia and Jordan wanted bama. I'm not going to lie, Jordan was one of my favorite recruits and I would have liked to have him. However, I think we did "ok" at linebacker/defensive end without him (g).
Sounds like Jordan wanted to go to Alabama, and his parents really didn't want him to come here because of the depth chart. Unfortunately the ability to make Jenkins the best player he can be and give him maximum exposure was never factored in to the decision. Good luck to the kid...I hope it works out for him.
I agree... JJ is going to be a heck of a player. I hate that we weren't able to get him, but like you said....we will survive.
JJ is a special kid and will be an NFL player one day. Sad to see him to go UGA, but he will make an immediate impact there.
Like to have had him too, I really think he wanted Bama,,,,but I did get a chuckle this am,,,the local paper had his signing announcement on the front page of the sports section complete with picture of mom and dad,,,,right above it, yep the article on UGA dismissing three football players.
While most considered him a Bama lock, Georgia fans are acting like they stole a 5* commit from Tuscaloosa that was committed to Bama for over a year.
When Jordan flipped back to deciding on Alabama the family sat him down for a "meeting". That's all you need to know. The Family wasn't going to stand for him signing with Alabama. Florida, maybe. But he was NOT going to Alabama.
Good luck to the kid.
It must be a real coup to "steal" a player from your own state.
Correct. And there's a reason his mothers comments about "safety" were never brought up either. Oh well.
For UGA......these days.......it is.
I will take Ryan Anderson
I wondered why we didn't continue to recruit him. Now I know dad shut it down. It's gotta be tough for a family during that phase. Knowing you are turning down an almost sure chance at a championship with a team that everyother year has the best D in football to attempt to make sure your son has an easier route to start has to be stressful. RTR
He and Keith Marshall are just great guys. I did not even know that Keith Marshall had like a 4.3 GPA, I mean he is a really great guy to be around. I just can’t wait to see them all when I get there in June.
I personally don't want to go the route of criticizing a decision that was a "family decision" - a few of those have worked in our favor the last couple of years as well.
The fact is, Jordan seems to be a pretty good kid, but it didn't seem like Mom/Dad wanted him in Tuscaloosa. Sucks, but it is what it is. Good luck to him.
"The Lord just wasn't with us, Coach."
"The Lord," grumbled Bryant, "expects you to block and tackle."

you know, a few weeks back i heard Jamie Newburg on one of those recruiting shows say that he knew of one rcruit who had narrowed it down to schools A,B, and C. He said the kid wanted to go to school A and the parents wanted school B. So in a compramise, he chose school C. This was right after Jenkins had commited, and I immediately wondered if it was him that Newburg was talking about. Looks like my suspicions were right
What was the supposed "danger" to her baby in T-Town? Like Athens and UGA are a paragon of virtue!
I'm kind of surprised by this because he and his family struck me as being very well grounded and smart or in other words the ability to see through BS lies in the recruiting game. I guess Mom just wanted him to play for the Rev at least for one year or so until he gets fired.
I've heard we backed off of him & I've heard this. I never saw him play, but in the all-star game. To me he flashed & was very quick, just needs to get into the weight room. I did not care for his momma bringing up that BS about "safety", when UGA has issues with players all the time. They just dismissed 5 of them this week for pete sake with several in trouble with the law. Anyway, in this case, like DBG picking Missouri, the parents picked the school for the child. In recruiting you have to find out who the decision maker is. With Winston it was his daddy. I think UA made the huge mistake of believing it was grandma, when it was not. Recruiting is like sales in a sense.
We never backed off Jenkins, and to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.
