Ding ding! We have a winner. Nothing has ever not happened as much as Jimbo to AU is not happening.
To play devils advocate...
I could see Jimbo leaving FSU for AU if the $$ was right. He was complaining the other day about FSU not being considered as a top 1 loss team because of the computers focus on their weak schedule. If he realizes that the BCS will always favor a one loss SEC team over a one loss or even undefeated ACC team, maybe he thinks his only real shot at a title is at AU in the SEC. Plus, I'm sure he thinks he can compete with Saban, both on the field and on the Recruiting trail. He would probably like to prove to the media and the critics that he is just as good as his mentor.
So, can I see him leaving FSU for AU? Sure. Do I think it will happen? Not really.
Competitors don’t put themselves in horrible situations and hope they succeed for the sport of it, only really stupid people do that. The most competitive people I know don't put themselves in disadvantages positions and actually seek out positions where they have advantages to succeed.
The money is probably irrelevant, short of Auburn making him the top paid coach in college football FSU will match it. You have to also admit that to even insinuate that the chances of a NC are greater in the SEC West with Alabama and LSU and now A&M than in the ACC is pretty ridiculous. Sure the SEC has a better chance of getting a one loss team into the big game but I mean that's irrelevant. The problem is obviously that it's a whole lot easier (by leaps and bounds) to finish the year with just one loss (or none) in the ACC. That's not even a contest and FSU would be ahead of UA in the BCS ranking right now had they beaten NC State.
Anyway there is no sense arguing about but short of a life or death type personal matter, it's just not going to happen.
