This is still some-what shocking to me about Barrett... he has played multiple positions on the Oline and did excellent at all of them. He is very intellegent as well... I think someone like Barrett would be the perfect fit with a QB like Peyton Manning
Did anyone else hear Jarvis Jones on ESPN when they were down in Florida for an awards show? He said that Fluker was telling him before they plays that they were coming his way.

Highly regarded Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker is down to 339 pounds from 355 pounds at Senior Bowl
Yep...gotta love that confidence and swagger...that's just the essence of domination.

Really enjoyed watching him the past years and hope he does well at the next level. I remember one of his teachers in high school talking about the eating plan Bama sent down for his senior year the coach sent word back that he his home situation was such if he had a chance to eat three burgers he would. When he got to the Capstone he took advantage of the oportunity and got his weight under control. One game, at the walk of champions my grandson (six) tried to shake his hand but missed him but Fluker came back and gave him a high five really my his day and his favorite player from that point on. Again, wish this young man only the best in his NFL career. RTR
Phil Savage said after speaking to numerous scouts during Senior Bowl week that DJ blew people away with his size and interview and was probably the most talked about player there. Said on Senior Bowl radio show he felt he locked a 1st round selection.

I'm not knocking him, just saying that his quickness isn't an issue. He shut down mingo with ease bc he was dialed in.
Sometimes it seems that rushers get a jump bc he's relaxed. But he shuts down the best when dialed in.
Y so offended? Lol
Big Fluke is smart, I have had two interesting conversations with him. He surprised me with some of his insight about the program, and also about his education.

That last sentence sounds like a 1960's beat writer from Des Moine describing a player to his readers. Sheer poetry in those words Mr. Terry.
Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun. But Mama, that's where the fun is.
Thank you. I've never heard that before.

A team to watch with Fluker is Chicago, which has the 20th-overall selection. The Bears need offensive line help although more at guard and left tackle. If they think he can play left tackle that's a real possibility.
Teams that need a right tackle are Miami, the Jets, Philadelphia and Washington.
Teams that need a left tackle, which may or may not consider Fluker, include Arizona, Baltimore and San Diego.
Washington doesn't have a first-round pick, while most of the other teams pick in the top 12, except Baltimore, which has the last pick.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see one of the teams that had an early first-round pick trade up from the second round and grab him late in the first if Fluker is still around after No. 20.

Hope Fluker doesn't go to that hell hole.
The "Big" Fluke will go down as one of my all time favorite players. I absolutely love that guy! Dude, will be successful in the NFL. He works as hard as anyone. I wish him all the success in the world!
From 355 at Senior Bowl to 339 at Combine weigh-in, impressive.
I like Barrett a lot, but unless he gets in a Shanahan-esque zone blocking style offense, he just won't get it done. He doesn't have the size, the strength, or unfortunately, the body type to put on the size and strength to be an NFL interior lineman. He's smart, great kid, great lineman for us, etc., but he just doesn't have the physical tools to be a 1st round, 10 year starter in the league.
I hope he proves me wrong.
We've posted a Day 1 roundup from the Combine: http://alabama.247sports.com/Article/A-look-at-Alabamas-players-at-the-NFL-Combine-Day-1-117784
Look for this to be a daily feature through next Tuesday.
