So why did LSU get a first place vote?
Probably Glenn Gilbeau (sp.?). He's a homer.
At this early point of the season I can't really argue with the poll. We all know with the games coming up things will change and get more clear. I will be honest, I didn't see the Oregon win that big coming. They demolished Arizona (which isn't very good) but still, that was an ass whooping.
Nope, it was the usual suspect named Scott Wolf. His rankings are a weekly laughter every year it seems
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
The score wasn't really an indicator for how most of the game went. It was something like 13-0 at half. Arizona threw two pick sixes in the fourth and Oregon just busted the game open.

I agree but still didn't see a shutout of Arizona. The final score was a little deceiving, much like the Florida State vs Clemson. Late mistakes by Arizona and Clemson made the game look worse than it actually was.
And I loved it too! Took the under (78.5) and it was never in doubt!
Oregon is absolutely nothing special. I would think they would be a 14 point underdog if they played Alabama in BCS title game.

I am probably in the minority, but I think that by the end of the year Florida St will be the second best team in the country. Not just in ranking. They may have given up some
Points on defense last night but they are very good on offense regardless of how piss poor you may think Clemsons defense is. I also think their defense is very talented. I despise Florida St but think they have the chance to be very good this year. Unfortunately we won't really know how good until the end of the year. I would really love to play them in the NC game. Think it would be a fun game.
If Oregon and FSU both run the table, I tend to think Oregon will get in based off strength of schedule and poll avg. Only thing that would help FSU would be style points under that scenario. It would probably the classic debate of resume vs. the team that people perceive to be better/more talented.

Why do they give guys like this votes? It's obvious it's done for attention.
I tend to agree but it was the first time Oregon shutout a team since 2003 with a bend don't break approach, particularly in the red zone. Granted I would not say Oregon plays an SEC level of defense but they did demonstrate that they have picked up their level of play on the defensive side of the ball. Still very early in the season but if you compare LSU's, Oregon's and FSU's performances yesterday combined with their current body of work, I think the rankings are right at this moment and time.
