We are worse this year with more talent than we were in year 1 under Grant.
edit: can't quote posts for some reason

The absolute home run dream hire would be Brad Stevens. But imo, he would be an idiot to accept the job unless we offered a stupid amount of money.
Bruce Pearl I think is more realistic, and would be a good man for the job. Did great things at Tennessee, who is very similar to us in terms of how big football is compared to bball... So he has experience with getting fans to support the program.
Shaka Smart. Idk if he would accept it though, and isn't he a Grant disciple?
The idiotic logic of the SEC being down this year has no relevance to a team that loses at home to Mercer and Tulane. Apologist are going to come and go but this excuse is about as dumb as they get.
You know I am almost always with this crowd and line of thinking but I saw a coach quit tonight and that is unacceptable. If he has young players that need developing then get up off your arse and coach them...they will not be any better when they are juniors and seniors if they are not improving today!!

Yep, we got a Center that can't catch a pass on the move to save his life, and PF that can't rebound. None of our post players can play high level D. Only our PF has a legit post move, and he only has one which makes him much more compent than our center. Yep, our coach sure can recruit.
My lord.....its year 4 and we have 10 scholarship players with zero post presence due to Grant's poor roster management and recruiting. No excuse for the product on the floor and Grant is stealing money.
Rick Byrd at Belmont. built that program from scratch. Team is disciplined and always plays hard. Have made the big dance the last couple of years. He would be a huge improvement. His teams score, are fun to watch and they win. Nice combination if you ask me.
Would he come. Maybe. he loves nashville, but I would look at him very, very hard. He could be another Brad Stevens.

We can't rebound and there is not much offensive threat inside. Our top six players are guards and small forwards, a junior, four sophs and a frosh. It's the best young guard / small forward talent Bama has ever had at one time. But until we get some bigs it is going to be tough. Whether someone else can do better faster than Grant has, who knows. Don't believe different schemes will change a thing.
As for coaches the Murray State guy might be interesting. But I'm not ready to give up on Grant.

I would upvote this +1000 if I could. Besides this, another poster a couple of weeks ago (can't remember who or I'd give credit) made a great point: great basketball players don't go to a school that focuses solely on defense. There are precious few recruits that would want to play in the "offense" we have currently. I just don't think it's too much to ask to run some semblance of an offense at some point. Do I think 'Bama basketball is ever going to be held to the same standard as football? No. But we have enough money in our athletic budget to at least make us competitive in some sense of the word. Losing at home to Tulane while putting up 50 points is $^#*ing inexcusable.
