He was pretty complimentary of some of our defense and defensive schemes. Was also complimentary about how we moved the big guys in the paint in the first half. He was not very complimentary of our offense in the last 10 minutes. Some of it is stuff we all have said on here. Last night was worse than normal though in terms of guys standing around late in the game on offense.
I'd sure like to see CAG look for some help from someone like a Knight or a Dean Smith about getting more motion away from the ball for those last possessions. You know retired coaches who love the game would love to help a guy like him. I know many on the board really don't like Gottfried, but I remember his story about buying a house down the street from Wooden and stopping to talk to him every time he saw him out in the yard. Makes sense to me. You should never stop learning.
I agree w/ your post. I am a fan of CAG and think that he will be a really good coach for us. With that said, I think that Knight made some dead on assessments last night and I would love for CAG to open up and ask for some guidance from someone like Knight. Like him or not, Bobby is pretty darn knowledgable and good at what he does!

Pretty sure I saw a pic of CAG sitting with Bob after the game....not sure if it was just a postgame interview, but the tweet said "talkin x's and o's".
^^^^^^^. I thought Knight was very good. He sure doesn't sugar coat anything.

I hope so. You know, Knight had good players, but he didn't always have the best players. It took a different kind of kid to want to play for him, I get that. But for me, the importance of that is that we don't always have the best players (e.g. UF and UK always have more talent than us), so having a better philosophy/scheme is important. Knight was a master at that, and it shows when you listen to him on the telecast.
they seem to lose all that intensity in transition from defense to offense. An offensive minded assistant coach would do wonders.
Sometimes we forget there is another team on the court. We just don't have all the players we need in key positions or depth and like Saban, Coach Grant will not recruit some players (as he said talent is a gift character is a choice). We need to give him some space, and more time.
Last night that other team was awful.
Knight was dead on about everything. We too often turn into an isolation team and just give up a chance to get easy baskets by sending players in motion.

Agree with the OP, just a comment on Dean Smith...Alzheimer's has hit him fairly hard. It's sad to see him up here every so often on the news.

Wow,,, that's sad to hear/read.
