UT is better. UT is not back. They're probably going to beat UF who is still lacking an identity on offense. The media will jump all on UT with a 3-0 start, hoping for someone else besides LSU and Bama in the SEC discussion.
Don't buy it. NC St was grossly over-hyped this summer, as evidenced by their 10-7 win over UConn last week. Tyler Bray is good, and they have some decent WRs. But they still haven't sewn up their defense and they don't run the ball.
They've got a 4 game stretch of @UGA, @MSU, vs Bama, and @South Carolina that will bring them back to earth.
Agree completely. I think UT covers the spread easily and gets smacked around a little during that 4 game stretch.
On Alabama: CeCe Jefferson - "It was a bunch of beautiful women..." Reggie Ragland - "oh the females of course..."
I just don't think they can beat Florida with no run game. Florida is not NC State or Georgia State. JMO and myself like you guys will see tonight. I do believe you are correct sir in that the media will jump all over the win if they do and they become a media darling. RTR
I think Florida has an identity on offense and it's running the football. They are über conservative but have an identity.
I also think the best unit on the field will be Floridas defense. Bray will quit in the third quarter.
I like UF's running game. But Gillislee pulled his groin last week. He's gonna be a little sluggish today.
Im with you, I think UF wins. Tyler Bray has a huge flaw in his game and I think UF exposes it greatly. He eyes down his WR's. Any decent safety worth a damn will key in on this. Also takes too long to go through his progressions. Any pass rush at all should break plays down with UT and without a running game UT is left with depending on TB to fit throws into small windows. Can he be that accurate throughout the game? Maybe, we'll see. Is UT's defense big enough in the trenches to slow down UF's running style? In these games, always choose the team with the better DL and who you think runs the ball more effectively. Sure, big plays are the ultimate neutralizer and UT has a better chance at big plays than UF does. If UF can prevent UT from the big plays, I'd say UF wins handily. TB is not a scrambler so its a different style from last week at A&M.

I'm thinking like you on this one. I am just not convinced UT has the athletes to beat Florida. RTR
I agree with this. Bray relies on his arm too much!!!

I don't understand all the love on this site for UT...they have done nothing, proved nothing. UF has better talent on paper than UT and has an SEC road win in a hostile environment. I like UF. If UT wins I'll believe they have turned the corner, but not until then.
"You don't always get what you want, but you always get what you deserve"
You really think UF is that good? They were awful last year and they still don't have a quarterback. They don't have an SEC road win, they have a road win over a team that went 7-5 last year in the Big 12.
Florida hasn't looked great to me yet this year. I'm not super high on UT. I just think UF is just OK.
They were very good on defense last year. They were having to play with ther 2nd and 3rd string qbs and their OC was horrible (see Kansas).
Correct. But those 2nd and 3rd stringers from last year are now their starters. If they had Brantley, I'd say UF wins this one. But neither of the UF QBs look comfortable right now.
UF wins! I think everyone is overblowing TN. They still stink!
They have had another year of development and a qb coach that is willing to work with them. Last season Weiss was very open that he didn't get the backup any reps coming in to the season cause he wanted to focus on Brantley.
In college football you have to acknowledge that players develop in the off season (unless they go to auburn).
They remind me of us in '05. We were better and had some key veterans. We had some holes to though and couldn't hang with elite teams.
Poor bastards getting off the bus in Tuscaloosa will probably feel like those dumped on Omaha Beach - Unknown Vol's fan
I agree but I'm not sure they will be Florida. Regardless, they will have a false sense of security and will be brought down to Earth when we play them if not sooner.
I see them as '08 bama.
Not to be too picky here but UT might have the better skill guys. I just dont think they have the BIGS to control the game like the way we both think UF does. It'll interesting to see the QB play from UF too.
Damn, good ole 2005. We had great players in '05. It was the strangest year I could ever remember. Great defense (#2 total defense and led nation in scoring defense at 10.7 pts/gm) and offense was clicking on all cylinders and then the offense couldn't score for anything after the injury to Prothro. How could 1 5'9" WR kill an offense so much? After that UF game and outside the Utah St game we never scored more than 18 points in a game for the rest of the year. It always blew my mind how that happened. We still had DJH, KBrown, MCaddell, a 1200+ yard running back in Darby, Leron McClain, Tim Castille etc.
Oops, sorry for the trip down Shula '05 lane...my apologies guys.
I didn't say anything about being good. My comments were purely on what they have accomplished this season (very little) vs UT (nothing).
UT has simply done nothing, yet. They beat UF and I'll pay more attention to them. I like UF today.
Agree and it'll add hype to the game with us. We have several mid level SEC teams that could meet us either with 1 loss or undefeated because of their schedule. Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Missouri come to mind. I wouldn't be surprised if Ole Miss gives Texas fits either. Strange things happen during these really late games.
UF losing Jenkins may hurt a little for their defense but they "should" have the depth. I am back and forth over this one. If UT can consistently get the DB's to bite on double moves then Bray will put on a show. Good news for UF is that they get their Safety back. I am leaning UF.
Seriously? I just don't see it.
