Looks like maybe we should have kept him,NC State just beat Duke
IF IT FEELS GOOD,YOU AIN'T DOING IT RIGHT!
No. I don't think it matters who we bring in here. BB just doesn't seem to work well in Ttown. Hope things change, but don't see it happening.
Back in the day, I ran a 3.9 in the 20
He had burnt out here. What you are seeing now would've never happened here because he had quit trying.
Guy left here because he wasn't giving 100% to this job anymore
If Gottfried had a coach the caliber of Lutz on his staff at UA, he might still be in town.
Are you really comparing NC State basketball to Alabama basketball? That's you first problem right there.
When Gottfried first got to Alabama, he was motivated. He recruited well, energized the fan base, and resurrected a dead program. He got too comfortable and he got lazy. He got jealous of Saban and the perks he got as football coach. He lost the trust and respect of his best players toward the end of his tenure. And, last but definitely not least, there is a little matter at the golf club. My guess is that NC State will have the same experience. I can't wait for the Wolfpack to start losing huge leads on a regular basis, not defend the three point shot at all, and get blown out on the road by garbage teams.
Grant may not be the answer, but if Gottfried is the answer it must be a really stupid question.

He will burn out there too. Gottfried will get complacent and/or lazy after a few years and you will continue to see the inconsistencies. Will probably see NC State lose some easy road games this year too. He was always good for knocking off a couple of big teams at home or even in some tourneys, but he cannot win on the road consistently (or at all)!
Gottried is a decent recruiter but an average to below average coach. If we are going to be mediocre, might as well have a hard-working coach and good guy at the helm.
Duke also lost their key mismatch player earlier this week (Kelly), and almost expected to lose this one as a result. Curry going down in the 2nd after a couple big 3s didn't help either. Point: don't read too far into MGs coaching today.

I could care less about basketball, just making an observation
Lutz IS the gameday coach. CMG has surrounded himself with a great gameday coach and 2 outstanding recruiters.
Gottfried has an ego problem as well. If you want him to keep those assistant coaches on staff, then make sure that you don't give them too much credit for the teams success. He will get rid of them or run them off.
Like I said, he may he have turned over a new leaf at NC State. However, as of right now, I have seen this movie before and I know the ending. He will leave you disappointed.
It was prob time to let him go, but make no mistake about it, he can make programs successful when he wants.
