Marlon is the last leg for Hoover, he really turned on the jets at the end to win them the State Title. Can't wait to see him in crimson.
A down-to-the-wire finish in the 4x400-meter boys AHSAA Class 6A relay that grabbed the spotlight in the final event of the championships Saturday. Hoover and Mountain Brook were separated by just one point when the race started , and junior Marlon Humphrey, who set three state indoor records Saturday, was facing a 25-meter deficit when he got the baton on the final leg of the final race. He clawed his way even in the third turn and won the final race at the buzzer to give Coach Devon Hinds' Bucs their fifth Class 6A state title since 1998. Hoover clocked the 4x400 relay in 3:23.41 and Mountain Brook's time was 3:23.97
"BINGO! That was a goody!" - Coach Bryant on Sunday afternoons with Coca Cola & Golden Flakes
Thanks for posting.
Nice!! Although, who was that 3rd guy from Mountain Brook. He had some wheels as well.
Humphrey was amazing down the stretch in that video, but the kid who ran the 3rd leg for Mountain Brook was no slouch either.
Edit: what adam said.

Guys lets not count Marlon in Crimson just yet, some wounds need to heal due to his older son not being offered a scholly
If you want to walk the heavenly streets of gold, you gotta know the password, "Roll, tide, roll!"
What a comeback on the last lap. Marlon can fly! Thanks for the post.
That track sure as hell beats the horse barn in Priceville where all the indoor state meets occured that we ran @ in the 1990s.
While I agree, we shouldn't count Marlon out yet, but there are none, ziltch, nada, wounds to heal with anyone in that family. NONE!!!!
This. That dude was smoking!
There is absolutely no ill will toward Alabama in the Humphrey household. However, Florida and LSU are both very much in this race. Marlon likes the Gator track program plus their coaching staff is really working him on social media. I've heard that until recently Bobby didn't know anything about all of the contact with Florida. I'm not sure that our coaches have fully grasped the power of social media like other staffs have.
Spoke to Bobby and a couple of Hoover coaches a couple of weeks ago...one coach said he would be absolutely shocked if MH didnt sign with Bama. There are no ill feelings what so ever between the Humphrey family and Alabama.
On Alabama: CeCe Jefferson - "It was a bunch of beautiful women..." Reggie Ragland - "oh the females of course..."
I was listening to the afternoon show on wnsp with Randy Kennedy and they were claiming that the reason Tunsil signed with Ole Sis was because of facebook. One om assistant had over 900 posts on his wall. CNS doesn't seem like a big facebook guy but I'm sure he is aware of it. I just have a hard time believing anyone likes being messaged that much on facebook to me thats borderline stalking.
That was my first thought as well. That wooden track would bounce and move around in certain spots.
After watching that event, I'm left with 2-predominate notions: Humphrey can absolutely fly, and that 3rd leg for Hoover is either slow, ran out of gas, or both.
Marlon's older son was not offered a scholly?!!!
Marlon doesn't have a son, kid is only 16 silly JJ.
*Bobby's* oldest son, Maudrecus Humphrey wasn't offered a scholarship by Saban and signed with Arkansas. I understand Bobby was none too pleased about it. In retrospect, it's become quite apparent why Nick didn't offer him - he's a talented young man, but not to Bama's standards.
Fast forward to the present. I find it hard to believe that Bobby is still offended - if he ever was. I would like to believe that he'd be honored to have his son, Marlon, also become an All America at the University - especially when I hear that Marlon is already building relationships with members of the team.
slipper, I would like for you to substantiate your assertion that Bobby has "some wounds (that) need to heal.
Don't make me come after you JM...lol...It's called a joke...see what the guy said?
Thanks for posting!!
Great memory! Though, we were lucky to have that track. Coach Echols of Mbhs, the Vestavia coach at the time and one other funded the renovation of that track when the state wanted to cancel the "indoor" season altogether. Kudos to those dedicated coaches for giving us the opportunity!
No bring on Humphrey in crimson!
