Are you implying that Grant will become the all-time wins leader as a coach at bama? (G)
University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
Not at all. I think CAG is a good man. Whether he becomes a successful coach or not remains to be seen. My OP just illustrates 1) it does take time and 2) maybe there's hope.
Tom Crean and Kevin Stallings are two other examples
Crean won 8 conference games total in his first three seasons at IU. It was obviously a complete rebuilding job, but he set the foundation and now it is paying off big.
Kevin Stallings did not make a tournament nor have a conference winning record in his first four seasons. He went to two sweet sixteen's in the next four years.
Mark Gottfried's best years at Bama were year's four through eight. Wimp's string of three straight sweet sixteen's were year's five through seven.
I think we are about to go on a nice little run these next few years. I wouldn't be surprised if look back three years from now and see that Bama made the tournament four of the last five years while placing 2nd in the SEC in the two most recent non-ncaa seasons.
So, you're suggesting we get this Krzyzewski fellow? I like it!
Yeah, but only as an offensive coordinator (G)
I'm just messing OP haha I believe there is hope but having the big swede go down didn't help us at all. We need some more guys because depth killed us this year. If we had depth we wouldn't have lost at least 6-8 games we should have won this year no doubt
Ole Miss bound IMO
Roll Tide Baby!
That's like comparing Bama football to Colorado. It's much easier to get a turn around at Duke.
Can't compare records because the rules were changed to allow freshmen to go pro after one year of college much later than that. He was able to have his players for 4 years.
Yes and it still took him four years to even look like he could coach. Go back and Google his early years. The boo birds were out for him especially in year 2 and 3.
Looks like Coach K had a ton of improvement in year 4.
What improvement did Bama have in year 4 under Grant?

You didn't see a good defensive team? I am shocked, I saw a pretty good defensive team that stole the ball a lot and contested a lot of shots. Was offense a problem? Yeah but I saw improvement.
