None of us (I hope) are naive enough to think Bama could beat an NFL team, but I found it interesting that they ran a spread for a neutral site game against Jacksonville.
the line= Bama+24
I just thought it was interesting that the Vegas odds makers think that the margin of difference between UA and the worst NFL team is the same difference between UA & MSU last week.
Basically we're in between NCAAF and NFL.
I realize this is just distractions to the team, but to me, a fan, that's awesome. We have no peers.
ESPN Video: Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic discuss Steve Spurrier's comments that Alabama could beat an NFL team.
And as per usual on an ESPN talk show, the hosts had no information or familiarity with the college team in question.
Golic spouted off the canned response everyone always says when comparing the two - "the biggest difference I see is the lines of scrimmage"
He had no clue that our Oline is basically an NFL line. I really hate when ESPN talk radio (except for SVP) tries to talk about college sports. They're so far up the pro game's ass that they know not of what they speak - and they just end up tossing out hackneyed cliches about the teams and players.
I don't think Bama would ever beat an NFL team but the Jags without Maurice Drew and the other injuries would make it interesting.
I would take that bet, Bama +24.
Actually, I'll be a homer for a day and take Bama straight up with coaching being the difference.

Bama would cover 24 points easily against the Jags IMO. It's a shame we can't settle this dispute (g).

I'd have to take us on the money line.
