Okay, stupid play by Fanning. I do believe Saban should have pulled him out of the game and gave him a good chewing but watch the Mizzou players on the next two plays. Particularly the last one....talking about trying to get revenge. Literally rips his helmet off and keeps shoving him in the ground if I saw it right.
Sometimes it is better to let people get "educated" by their peers.
This whole thing is being blown way out of proportion. IMO.

#61 killed him off the line! If they would have played that way the whole game they may have gotten a few more yards
My grandparents were courting on the Quad at the University of Alabama in 1937.
I would definitely hope our players would have their teammates' back if he got suplexed like that...
Yep. I think we may have just seen why fanning doesn't play more and it has nothing to do with the suplex
I would tend to agree. Not all that different than a tackle I remember Rolando making a few years back. And I don't remember the big outrage to it.
Every single play a player can get injured, remember C. Jones doing the flip in the air on the pun return? Why isn't anyone pouting about that? Every time someone is blocked, tackled or hit the ground they could potentially get a head, neck injury.
A great example was a couple plays later then the kid had what appeared to hit the turf with no problem and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. I don't see anyone pitching a fit over that.
It's part of the game. Sometimes you just grab someone in an awkward position and you go with it. Should he have let him go?
Exactly what I was thinking. Rolo was fines by the NFL for the tackle but not suspended.i linked the video, very similar tackles.
This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
Anybody else notice that the refs were laughing after the first double team by the Offensive Linemen? Haha. One of the refs said something to him too when he was walking back after the play.
Very similar to baseball. You hit our guy on purpose. We will hit your guy on purpose. Sometimes it escalates to a brawl but most of the time after the retaliation the game goes on.
If you will notice.....the refs turned their heads to what was going on with the retaliation of the MO lineman. I also think Fanning getting whipped by the OL was very telling. I will be interested in hearing what Saban has to say about it if it's brought up today.
i want to know what the ref said to fanning after the next play.
