Is that when Kirby Smart does eventually leave the Capstone, that it appears obvious that Coach Scott Cochran will leave with him. I actually think that Coach Yeah Yeah Yeah leaving will be the bigger loss. Agree / disagree?
Why is it obvious?
I've seen a smattering of this around the board today, and I've yet to see a legit reason why this is so. Why would he automatically leave?
What happens to everybody else has nothing to do with us, understand?”
Back in the day, I ran a 3.9 in the 20
I have said this since last year and was met with more acrimony than if Saban himself were to leave.
I was told this by one of my old coaching friends,
When he does leave next year w/ Kirby I will post my complete thoughts.
b/c that's his best friend on the staff. About the same age.
I think he would have to take a pretty serious pay cut if he were to move. Not sure Kirby's new boss would be willing to pay what Bama does.
Why? Quite a few other S&C coaches currently make more than him. Not that big of a deal.
Beyond the money factor - it's about having total control of the S&C program.

When Kirby leaves, he will be the new boss when it comes to salary structures for his assistants, or he just won't take the job. Saban is famous for getting his assistants PAID, and I'm sure that has translated to Kirby. He knows what builds a program, and a strength and conditioning coach like Cochran is a serious cornerstone, I would think.
I can say with confidence that this is not true. And anyone who thinks Scott doesn't have as much control over the S&C program as any S&C coach in the nation is wrong. Bad information. Expect Scott to get a nice raise after this season.
Lucky even said that Cochran wasn't going anywhere.
Yes that would make since considering Kirby isn't going anywhere either.
Not sure it's that obvious, but it might be as big a loss
No one knows what's in their head and anyone who suggests otherwise is just speculating. My very best friend left the company I work for 3 years ago and I didn't follow him, though he made a strong offer. I just felt more secure where I was, love where I live, and wasn't willing to take a risk at that point in my career.
Sorry, didn't mean to quote you Nomad36.

Too many variables and it certainly didn't become obvious today. For example, he may even want to when the times come but what if it's facing a huge pay cut because it's a virtual certainty that Kirby will have less of a budget for his staff on his first head job than Saban does now.
I can actually shed some light on this. My boss is neighbors with coach Cochran. Apparently he and Kirby are best friends and their wives are best friends as well. My boss believes through conversation he has had with Cochran that if Kirby leaves coach Cochran will go with him because of their close relationship and their wives close relationship. Pretty sure my boss isn't making that up. Told us at lunch today when we were talking about kirby
Don't know if he's gone or not when Kirby goes, but if I've learned anything the last 6 years, it's to not sweat staff turnover.
My guess is that if CSC is gone when Kirby goes, Coach Saban knows this and already has a plan in place, just like he does for CKS's replacement.
I love the guy and hate to see him go, but, we'll continue to dominate without him.

Kirby and Muschamp are best friends and the same age, Kirby didn't leave when Will got hired with the Gayturds. Not discrediting your opinion, just offering mine. RTR.
