My cousin texted me about the Craig hire saying "recruiting is about to get crazy" as to say I should be getting worried. By the end of the convo I made him feel like crap, and I can't stop laughing. I said things like no matter how they got it done, Trooper and Looper are both way better recruiters than Craig, and if anything this makes things easier for us. All he could say was "aight man! Bye!" LMAO!
Dye, Jacobs & The Hee Haw gang our doing the same exact thing they did with Chizik, which is to hire a bunch of minority coaches to put around Gus, package them as recruiters to help them bring in the best talent possible with a huge assist from Mr. Bagman & fat cat auburn boosters willing to give for the cause. Dye seems to believe that talent cures all that ails auburn. The problem I see for the boogs is the same thing with the last staff; below average on the field coaches once again. We know 3 of these clowns they hired. Harbison & Smith will NOT improve the aub secondary. Garner had all that talent at UGA & we still ran over their asses. Ellis Johnson is not some defensive guru. He is an average DC. On the offensive side, have the boogs forgotten how the top SEC teams adjusted to Gus offense & stopped it COLD? I guess so.
In regards to Mr. Craig, he is a notoriously, negative recruiter that will play the race card & even bashed his own alma-mater, while at FSU. He talked bad about auburn, saying among other things that they did not take care of their own after leaving auburn. Well, well, I wonder how Craig is going to explain this to all those recruits, now that he's at auburn? I hope Coach Saban returns Lance Thompson back to recruit Mobile once again. He can & will kick Craig's ass down here & the aubs know it.
Garner and Craig are continuations of the tactics that Auburn has adopted in recruiting and program management. As long as AU stays wrapped up in the Dye era they will remain in mediocrity. I hope Craig continues to work Mobile for them- he has put a bad tatse in the mouth of at least one significant program down there.
Agree w/ everything except for EJ being an average DC.
I wouldn't say he's the best out there but easily would make my top 10.
Follow the money trail, Pilgrims. Follow the money trail. It is only a matter of time before the snoops in Indianapolis will be
put on to this motley crew. Motley, yeah, that is an apt description.
All they did was rearrange the chairs on the deck. They fired Chizik and hired his former OC to run the show. Then they brought in two ace recruiters to do the same things Trooper and Luper were doing. I'm not sure why anyone would be concerned. It's the same old story with a few new faces. It will end the same as well. It always does.
Some people bring a knife to a gun fight. Mark Richt brings a Super Soaker 2000.
Craig is a notoriously dirty recruiter taking any approach necessary. And FSU has nabbed a couple great Alabama players with him there. However, we've already been recruiting against him and taken a hell of a lot more blue chippers from their back yard than they have from ours. He is just wearing a different color windsuit now. I'm not worried at all.
Never Gets Old
Bagman is still their best recruiter.
