They showed ND play Michigan, Stanford, Pitt, Wake Forest. Now this is the first time I have watched them in depth other than highlights. And I know this is only a 1/4 of the season but, color me unimpressed. I mean they have a pretty good o-line and RB's & WR's are ok. QB can move but he isn't Johnny Football and, the back up QB seems like the better passer. The TE is a good receiver and really good with the ball up high and could be a hard match up for our DB's. The D is pretty good for the most part. But they looked like any normal middle of the road SEC D to me. D-line has size but, they didn't dominate like I thought they would. LB's were in the right places at right time for the most part but, didn't look very fast at all. And DB's looked like they play off with a cushion alot. I am guessing its because they don't have the speed or skill set to play man press. I'm just your average Bama fan, I played some in High School but that is it. But to my layman eye and knowledge, and knowing how we play and coach, and what I saw from ND today. I am begining to think it might be a more one sided game than people are saying. Did anyone else watch these games today, and see the same things I did today? Or am I just missing something here?
I think it will be close for the first half. Then about the mid 3rd Qtr we will pull away and establish dominance. Both teams are good to great in the trenches. I just can't trust that their QB is even ready for this game. The same goes for coach Kelley. Never coached in a BCS bowl let alone a NCG. I am surprised that this is not talked about more
Eat clean. Train Hard.
Herbie and Dez were discussing it today. First time coaches in the BCS title game are 7-1. Interesting stat that shows the coaches aren't playing the game, they are managing it. So if they have Butterflies in the stomach it rarely affects team performance. I think it will be a war ND doesn't win any beauty contest but they win. Just win it's all that matter win the game ends.
How many of those coaches NEVER coached in a big post season game? Chizik with Cam? I think it makes a HUGE difference having a guy like Saban who has been their before and a guy like Kelly who has not. Especially when said unproven coach has an unproven QB as well
I believe ND is a very sound football team - "LB's were in the right places at right time for the most part but, didn't look very fast at all." They make up for some of their lack of speed/skill by playing smart football, being in the right place at the right time, limiting mistakes, making sound tackles, playing as one unit. ND is very emotionally sound as well, they have a very strong mental make-up in terms of never quitting, and they have come from behind and won some very close games because of their mental attitude. I think this is why CNS has focused so much on "finishing" during the practices. We are the better overall team, but we have to do the little things just like ND does the little things. Once we do that then all of our talent, skill, speed, strength, experience, emotional/cognitive aspects of our game, and coaching should win in the end.

Sorry but I can't watch the ND propaganda games on NBC sports channel, I watch very, very little of this channel since its all ND. They try to push ND as the greatest team on earth when they are very lucky to be where they are. I've been around when ND was given the NC in 1966 when they came back to tie Mich State and did not play in a bowl game while Bama beat the cornhuskers in the Sugar bowl to be undefeated. Alot of bad memories about ND coming out ahead of Bama.
There's a reason it's not talked about... Kelly has coached in a BCS bowl.
Amen on all counts!

The only thing I would supply is that the nose guard for ND does an amazing job for them. Their linebacker play is bolstered by his play much like Mount Cody helped ours out a few years back. I hope Jones is not just ready to start, but that he brings his lunch pail because he, or whoever is in that position, is going to have to work. Still, I cannot imagine a better team to handle the core of this ND defense than Bama. Possibly A&M with their O Line, but ours will have a good shot at neutralizing this D.

Redacted on Kelly not coaching in BCS bowl...for clarity he did coach the Bearcats in 2009 against VaTEch in the Orange Bowl.
