I have seen the play with Trent from last year at least 25 times and I still don't understand why that's wrong. It's getn rediculous.
Because Roger Goodell's an idiot.
As the NFL considers a rule change this week that would penalize runners for lowering their helmets into tacklers, Browns running back Trent Richardson is being presented as the poster boy for the proposal.
Roger Goodell has quickly become one of my most disliked humans currently walking this planet. A**clown comes to mind.
This is also another example of frivolous lawsuits destroying our country. All of these unwanted rules changes are knee-jerk reactions to lawsuits that are intended to be used in the courtroom as a defense for the NFL.
You played football but didn't expect any head trauma? You needed the NFL to tell you that playing football was dangerous to your health? Damn people.
I watched the hit and am going to link it here too but if you stop precisely when I did you can see Coleman's helmet is already coming loose when Trent hits him.
Trent clearly hit the guys facemask with the crown of his helmet. Watch the same video you linked and you will see his chin strap was snapped on at all 4points. It was and still is a clean football play to me
Football used to be so much better.
look at the picture I posted Trent hasn't made contact and the dudes helmet is already halfway off from being blocked previously in the play, its not the running backs fault its a fault with the helmet. I am not even arguing against Trent I am not even arguing whether the play was clean or not.

what does it take to get a new commissioner?? can he be fired or voted out somehow or does he just have to decide he wants to retire?
He makes the league a fortune. He's not going anywhere unless y'all stop buying tickets and stop watching the games on TV.
I stopped long before this asinine decision!!!
i just broke a nail typing this post...gonna write a letter to dell
This is mostly about the lawsuits. More than it is about trying to change football.

Wouldn't this put a premium on a back like Henry?
He can bull over people without lowering his helmet. So he is unlikely to ever get called for this penalty. Whereas a shorter back will be far more likely to have his helmet in a place where it can contact the tackler's helmet.
If you don't lower the helmet but smash the tackler with your face mask is that a penalty also? Basically I'm asking if the rule is about the crown of the head and eyes or about contact?
I tend to think backs should probably have their eyes a little more often than they do but I've never thought it should be a penalty when they lower the boom. Seems like they are taking it too far to me.
I wanted them to say its not helmet to helmet on the defensive player if the offensive player lowers his helmet. Numerous times it was called on the tackler when the offensive player instigated the h-t-h contact.
Had to know this was coming with the rule for the defense imo. Why should they allow an offensive player to do it? If the defensive player no longer can? I don't agree with it. But u could see it coming from a mile away.
So it's obvious the NFL will soon stand for National Flag League .
Will QB Sneaks be flagged now?
Is the day of going on 4th and short via the power run over?
Will upright runners like TJ Yeldon break the NFL rushing records?
It would go further than that. It would essentially render the running game nugatory.
