All people need to do is stop holding their shaker/stirrer between their teeth. Then they can yell and shake at the same time.
My issue with shakers is that they block my view... It seems that I am always behind someone that wants to make sure their shaker gets noticed (therefore they raise it as high as they can).
I agreed with everything you wrote up until your tirade on the student section. The students show up to the big games. Are you worried about the noise level for Western Carolina? If you want to fill the student section, email the ticket office and tell them to open up the student seats after kickoff. Complaining on BOL won't do anything. But it's ultimately not important when discussing noise level.
This thread is a complete waste of time. Please tell me more about how my shaker is making me quieter at the games. This is literally the stupidest argument I've ever heard regarding the noise level. We'd be better off discussing the acoustics of the stadium. At least that's not completely fabricated.
I would like to agree with you but even at the Auburn game there was a whole section open in the upper deck that is student seating. It's just pathetic in my opinion. Also I can remeber the stadium being full when we played even bad teams a few yeas back. It just makes me mad to see a whole open section at an Alabama Auburn game. If you didn't know you would have thought you were looking at Florida State's crowd.
Maybe it's the feminine side in me but I don't mind shakers, looks cool when most everybody in the stadium is using them

Well a shaker makes noise too. Combine 50k of them with yelling and i gotta think it makes it louder. I use a shaker and am still able to yell extremely loud. Imo the skaker helps me get amped up.
I'm confused. Maybe someone can explain the difference between pompoms and shakers. Is the a rib eye storage compartment that makes them masculine? Or are grown men here too proud to admit they shake pompoms?
Well, in my historical perspective, pompoms are official cheerleader equipment items. I yell and shake my shaker. I am also able to walk and chew gum.
If our stadium was as quiet as many on here seem to think then there would not be as many comments from visitors, recruits, announcers, etc. on how loud it is. Maybe from where some people are sitting.......
We are all Bama here. Can't we all just get along?
People don't yell vs People yell to much.
People don't stand vs People who stand in the way.
Students don't yell vs Students are great (I've seen them in the lower section and they do a good job).
Students / Frats leave early vs those who say "whatever"?
People who leave early vs those, like me, who stay until 0:00 (except for the Miss State game - coooold)
People who say students don't come 'cause the upper corner isn't full vs people who say they're all in the lower section.
People who love Alabama vs people who love Alabama.
Happy New Year. Roll Tide! Pass the Tylenol!

Are you PawPaw?
Pompoms are what the cheerleaders hold.
Btw...cheerleaders pompoms sure are smaller than they were when I was in school.
You can use a shaker properly and make the stadium loud. The two are not mutually exclusive. We are ALWAYS the loudest group in our section, and we use our shakers to maximum effect. Plus it looks great on TV to have everybody with shakers...
