I just spoke with a leading surgeon at Vandy and he discussed the possible links with creatine(sp?) and testicular cancer. Over half of his referrals who have this cancer have take that supplement.
He tried to do a joint study with LIVESTRONG a few years back but they said they had no interest in studying the connection between the two.
Just an FYI to any of you guys taking it. Testicular cancer affects guys from ages of 15-35 or so.
I was diagnosed on Chmas Eve of this year and will have my 2nd major surgery in 2 weeks.
Best of luck going forward and hoping for a full recovery.

Thank you I appreciate it. About a 2-3 month recovery from the next surgery, so I will be on BOL quite often!
Hate to hear that - Best wishes to you as you go through this and here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

We will do our best to keep you busy. (g)
Did you take it? I have been taking it for two or three months. My brother takes it regularly.
Yeah I did some back when I was in college and high school. (34 now)...He said he started noticing a trend of really fit guys and body builder types getting it frequently. He can't guarantee there is a connection, but since the cause of testicular cancer is unknown and it is on the rise, he has noticed this as the one common factor that he has seen.
He is probably the leader in the field in the Southeast for sure.
Trevor...you can just send me the War Room and Nuggets to proof read first! I am a college prof...so happy to do my part
Hate to hear that---Get well soon.
I've never been a supplement guy other than a multi-vitamin or doctor prescribed for migraines from time to time. I remember a lot of guys took creatine in college and it seemed to work, but they had to take it all the time. Also, it brought out there inner meathead and seemed to be as close as over the counter steroids you could get at the time.
Good luck man!
Yeah I don't think I was ever on this level, but definitely knew guys like that. Many of the supplements out there have some of the same stuff in it...so who knows. Just thought I would give a friendly heads up to any guys on here who take it.
Hate to hear the news. Get well soon.
Thank you! I appreciate the well wishes. I know I serve a great God and have a loving family, so it makes it easier for me to walk through this.
Hang tough, BigMike!

That info has been known for quite a while.....at least 10 years that I know of. I stopped telling people about it because of the assclown remarks I used to get from people. I guess people will believe anything that the guy at GNC says. Russian scientists discovered the link between TC and creatine in the 80's. I hope everything goes well for you in surgery and recovery.
Thanks for the info, for me it was definitely new information. The whole Ray Lewis thing got me thinking about it again today, so just thought I would share for the others like myself who weren't aware. Thanks for the well wishes.

Hate to hear of your cancer. I had prostate cancer 5 years ago. Everything is fine now. Yes we have a great God who has given us some tremendous medical expertise and technology.
There could be a connection but I don't think they know what causes cancer. Some used to say jockey shorts caused PC. Well, I do wear them but come on.
I would think injuries to the jewels might be more contributory. Just a guess.
Anyway, I pray you will have successful treatment and have a wonderful future.
Thanks! Honestly, the only thing they know for sure with test. cancer is 1. age of men, 2. white males, 3. taller men. I think this are more of "common" traits. I'm just praying I won't need chemo after the surgery. Some people need 2-3 rounds afterwards, but believing that won't be me.
BigMike...You are in my thoughts & prayers!!!

What symptoms did you have that tipped you off to get checked?
Truthfully I felt pain, which isn't associated with it. Then noticed hard lump on testile but sometimes they are small that you can't tell.
I regret not going to doctor yearly.
Best wishes and God bless Big Mike!!! You are in great hands at Vandy (as you probably know). My sister is also a leading Onc surgeon (also a Bama fan!) at Vandy so I know a little something about their quality of care!!!
Nice! I'm seeing Dr Cookson
I"m sure he works closely with my sister, Dr. Holt. The group is maybe the best in the world IMO!
