With our revamped roster, what does everyone think the best order would be?
1) Andrelon Simmons
2) Jason Heyward
3) Freddie Freeman
4) Brian McCann
5) Justin Upton
6) Dan Uggla
7) BJ Upton
8) Chris Johnson
Pretty sure I remember ESPN running an article where Fredi stated Justin Upton would hit 4th, w/ McCann then Freeman or maybe Freeman then McCann, w/ Heyward @ 3rd. Pretty sure Uggla was 7th, and can't remember if BJ was 2nd or leadoff...
"Once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places you have to look at it right."
I believe this was a preliminary lineup given by Freddie G.
3) BJ Upton
4) Justin Upton
Yeah it did have the Uptons 2cd and 4th. What I like best about this roster is the versatility. On any given day just about everyone can switch spots if need be. That creates so much flexibility. Having the duo at 3rd of Johnson and Francisco is also very nice with a righty lefty platoon. Lots to be excited about for this year and years to come.
He said the other day
Out of the loop but what happened to prado?
According to Fredi it depends on whether McCann is back to form. Healthy Mac you've got:
3. J Upton
5. BJ Upton
Probably start off with Freeman and McCann swapping 4th and 6th. Fredi likes to go left right left right
Traded to Arizona with Randall Delgado and a couple minor leaguers for Justin Upton and Chris Johnson.
If I could make the lineup...
Just dont like the idea of Simmons having that much pressure on him at the top of the lineup. But, if Simmons can hit there, he'd be ideal. I just think BJ leading off is a better fit to start the year with his speed and experience
whoever plays 3rd
The best lineup available for Freddie G to make is
3. J. Upton-LF
5. B. Upton-CF
Fredi likes to stagger his left and right handers, so putting Heyward-Freeman-McCann will probably never happen. It keeps teams from being able to bring in specialists late in games to shut down an entire portion of the lineup. Like some others have said, most likely to have something along the lines of Simmons-Heyward-J. Upton-Freeman-B.J. Upton-McCann-Uggla-Francsico/Johnson. That staggers R-L all throughout the lineup, very tough for opposing managers to matchup against late in ball games.
Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that McCann will miss the first month.
Plug Laird in 8th and bump everyone else up.
Whatever it is Freddi better not mess it up. We could have something special brewing with a hole in the 1 spot. Hopefully Simmons can pull it out.
Agree with you, think Simmons would eventually be the LO man, also think they will not take any chances with Mac, so he will miss 1st month, that said;
Yep this is the one he was quoted as saying bcuz he wanted the righty lefty split up through the whole line-up. Who pays 75 million for a 7 hole hitter? I could see if bj wasn't hitting but not starting off. That's why Uggla is so lowin the line-up right now. He hasn't hit since he been in Atlanta! Except during his hit steak
This lineup makes a lot of sense to me. Mix up the contact hitters with power hitters so you are not living and dying by the long ball. I'd probably take turns with BJ in the 2 hole. Got to use his speed while he stil has it. Will be hard for him to do it BM ahead of him.
Even when McCann does come back...no earlier than May...who knows what the Braves will get out of him? Some of these lineups make good sense if we're talking about a McCann that's 100% healthy and producing as well as ever, but frankly, I'm really concerned that McCann's best days may be behind him. Actually, I wouldn't at all be surprised to see him go to the AL at some point to preserve his career.
