92DT. I sent you a message.
I coach football and baseball......baseball there is a one game suspension policy for parents talking with me about lack of playing time....I tell them at the beginning of the season that talking to me about things unrelated to playing time or game decisions is great but I don't want to hear how Johnny should play or billy shouldn't have bunted
I love it! How many kids have you had to suspend due to violation of this rule by parents?
I was an assistant fastpitch softball coach at a private school. We had a father of a player, who hadn't been to one practice or even a game, decide to dress down our Head Coach b/c his daughter wasn't getting playing time. Apparently, she was complaining to him at home, but failed to mention that she had been wearing a wrist brace(with the metal rods in it) to practice everyday.saying she couldn't practice.
Haven't been in it very long but maybe 1 or 2....usually works where it happens once and then I don't here anything else or the kid winds up quitting....either way its usually a pretty good outcome
In Tennessee it's much easier to break in through the private schools because they tend to have more resources and bigger budgets. I can think of 25-30 coaches who started as part time guys in private schools that are now full time teacher/coaches in both public and private settings. Get yourself a bill paying job that you can leave at 3:00 pm everyday. Find a school with a coaching staff you can learn from and plug in where they will let you. If you work hard, are a guy the other coaches enjoy being around, and you can coach just a little you will be on your way. Be patient though; do it because you love it.
You could always tell the parent: "This ain't the Upward League"
