One of my best friends is a HUGE UGA fan. He sent me this a little while ago, and I thought I would share.
I will go ahead and give you my objective analysis. Bama 30 UGA 20. I try to be realistic with looking at teams including UGA. The 3 advantages why i am giving Bama the 10 point win. 1. Saban is better than Richt. 2. I think the starting players are pretty equal except the OL, Bama's OL is a couple notches better than UGAs so they have that advantage. 3. Depth, We cant really substitute much due to being way under the scholarship limit.
I hope i am wrong but i am a realist and not a delusional homer fan.
Here's to hoping he's right!
Sounds, well, logical to me. A smart puppy, RTR!
I work with a uga fan who is very realistic and he's maintained all week that he thinks Bama will win because Saban>Richt and he's nervous about Murry in a big game.
Interesting comment about substitution being affected by low scholarship numbers.
They are as low in numbers as Auburn. Total roster is about 70.
Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied, I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet.
1) I spoke to 2 UGA grads today, and they both had Bama to win. Much like us, they felt like they were certainly capable of winning, but "if I had to bet $100, I'd bet it on Bama."
2) UGA has signed 88 players from 2009-2012. So, in a perfect world, they could have a full roster, but it's hard to pull off having that little attrition/enough 2008 redshirts to make it work. The problems are classes of 16 in 2009 and 19 in 2012. If they had matched their numbers for 2010 and 2011 (27 and 26) every year, they would probably be at a full roster. So, regardless of what Georgia people might say, oversigning is NOT the culprit.
