I really dont like accusing Ole Miss of cheating without having any factual basis, however I cant help but get the cheating Auburn 2010 team vibe from Ole Miss. Let me preface by saying i think their recruiting class was pretty legitimate last year since Nkemdeche already had his brother at OM and his presence in the class probably helped them grab a couple 5 stars.
But when I read an article on Charles Mosely and he says Ole Miss keeps talking about this family atmosphere and all these family-based recruiting pitches it makes me wonder exactly what the hell that even means. It just seems like a stupid recruiting pitch to me. It also gives me cheating vibes like theyre trying to keep everyone happy so no one squeels when they dish out bags of money. Again not saying they are cheating but it just sounds like Auburn and I hate Auburn.
Anyone else feel like this?
Im kinda sick of everybody calling them cheaters, until something comes out. I was in Nashville last weekend talking to UT and Oh State fans and they all were adamant about Nick Saban cheating; so know that its all relative. Everybody says everybody else cheats.
I think they finally have a decent coach, and a good AD that is trying to make the program better. They locked down their own state last year, landed a kid because they were SMARTER than us and took his brother the year before (who by the way is actually pretty good) and they also got a WR out of IL that had some connections to the school too. So they did a good job. That cant happen every year and until they can build their OL and DL up and get consistent QB play they wont be in the top 4 or 5 of the SEC.
I think the real question will be - how long does Hugh Freeze stay there. I know he is home-grown, but everybody has a price.
Baseless claims of cheating are exactly what our rivals spew on a daily basis. The only "evidence" to support Ole Miss cheating is the fact that they are Ole Miss, ie it must be impossible for a team like Ole Miss to rise above this invisible glass ceiling you have erected for them. They got a new coach that is generating some buzz, just like they did under Nutt. They have gained a little momentum, but give them 1 or 2 seasons of not meeting these now lofty expectations, and they will collapse back down to being exactly what they are..Ole Miss. An Alabama fan, whose team in in the midst of one of the greatest CFB dynasties ever, feeling threatened by lowly Ole Miss (and that is exactly what this is), is quite unbecoming.
Yes, I think some recruits were possibly paid. Hard to trust a Kiffin (Chris). I at least feel they're more selective than Auburn, who pays everybody.
First off they did not generate "buzz" under Nutt. He won short term with Ogre's players.
Secondly, no Alabama fans that i know of are feeling "threatened" by Ole SIssy.
Thirdly this "glass ceiling" you mentioned was not erected by the OP, it was erected by Ole Siss and its still there and has been for 40 plus years.
The kid Memphis mentioning Ole Miss is to be expected, they have a large presence in that city, however when players like Talamaivao from California are mentioning Miss then most people of at least average intellect know something is not right. Most athletes in CA probably cannot point out MS on a map.
The last part I agree with. Frieze will have short term success and then when the excitement stops flowing then the goodtimes will be over and its back to the SEC doormat status.
Wonder if they will finally beat Vandy this year.
That is a very compelling and well constructed argument. They should send a notice of inquiry to Oxford immediately.
This post sounds like my son whining about my other son. "Mommy, he's cheating."
Im just saying it seems like somethings fishy
It is, shall we say, rather out of the ordinary
Saban's dominance is anything but ordinary. Look what just one man has done for this program. Who's to say a single man couldn't take ole miss to the next level, albeit a level still far below where alabama is? Ole miss has a great recruiter selling immediate playing time and the SEC, a job made much easier with what saban has done to elevate this conference. It's a compelling sales pitch, especially with the right man delivering it.
Look at what Saban did for LSU while he was there. He built a very strong foundation and with the talent in LA all miles has had to do is not screw it up. I fully expect LSU to have the number one class and at least the number two ranked class in the nation this year. One man can make a big difference in a program,ie ND, OSU, aTm, Mich, UCLA, Oregon, etc. Will old miss ever be as dominant as Bama, NO, NO, NO Do they cheat? Not until the NCAA says they do..
If y'all think ole miss isn't cheating then your not being realistic. Ole miss has big money boosters. The tire man is well known for providing money to steer people. Come on man.
So basically any team that hasn't been historically good on a consistent basis can ever turn their program around? Is that right? Not without cheating??
Pretty foolish logic.
You people who BLINDLY claim that ole miss is cheating sound like babies. Spoiled crimson brats.
The state is the great fictitious entity by which every man believes he can live at the expense of every other. - Frédéric Bastiat
And Bama Football is far bigger than even Coach Saban - the infrastructure is there for even average Coaches to experience great success at times.
What you just described is an actual "glass ceiling," not an imaginary one erected by the OP.
