BUT if it was the barn 3/4 of y'all would be screaming cheating.
I agree with this too. But I would point out that we know that Cam Newton and his father had something going on, even if the Barn didnt pay him; and we also know that Trooper was taken off the recruiting trail by the NCAA and it was denied by the coaching staff and AD.
Once these kind of stories start to surface about Ole Miss, let get the pitch-forks and hunt them down. Until then it just sounds ghey.
Definition on Urbandictionary.com: A fictional ambulance or rescue squad for someone who cries or whines, most often without provocation. A way to insult someone whom often cries for no apparent reason; a cry baby, a brat, or someone suffering from hypochondria.
The irony of this thread is that all of the whining is coming from those that don't like the OP's suggestion. I don't think anyone here is saying "they're cheaters". We're just trying to discuss the possibility based on our experience with Auburn's proven track record. It's for fun. This is a message board, not a court of law. Stop taking everything so seriously.
You undermine your own point by bringing up Auburn's "proven track record". Auburn does not have a proven track record. The NCAA turned Auburn inside out and found nothing. There was a bunch of smoke that amounted to nothing. Down vote all you want, but those are the plain facts, and until anything more substantial than message board dribble surfaces regarding Ole Miss, I'm willing to give their momentary recruiting success the benefit of the doubt.
It should also be said that this topic was the HOT TOPIC during signing days.. it got ridiculous and very redundant. It is a message board and I am as good at kicking a dead horse as anybody on here; but one good year of recruiting for a school with a new coach (who also finally won some games) is nothing unusual. Watch Kentucky this year - they may not land in the top 10 in recruiting, but they will improve dramatically. You gonna blow the cheating whistle on them too?
This reminds me of an episode of The Brady Bunch, "those were your exact words..". You and I both know Auburn has a proven history of cheating. If you think it takes a powerless NCAA investigation to determine guilt, that is just groovy. I agree and do give Ole Miss the benefit of the doubt.
But a dead horse to us might be some one else's epiphany. I don't think Kentucky boosters would ever consider paying a football player. You make good arguments though, but I don't think anyone here is on a microphone declaring that Ole Miss cheats. It comes down to someone raising the possibility, for fun. You can't deny that there have been some head turner's. But you brought good facts to the table to discuss.
According to the NCAA, they were involved with Albert Means
