I don't think the need to take shots downfield is what's missing. Numbers may or may not support it, but the passing game "feels" as good as it's never been under Saban to me.
What we seem to be missing is the unstoppable, know-its-coming-and-can't-stop-it running game. We're not terrible in that regard by any means, but losing Fowler is a much bigger problem then it seemed at the time.
"BINGO! That was a goody!" - Coach Bryant on Sunday afternoons with Coca Cola & Golden Flakes
Very, very misleading stats.
Our stats don't compare with other teams because we rarely play starters in the 3rd quarter. In fact, this was the first time in the entire year that AJ took the final offensive snap of the game.
Look, we're never going to be a West Virginia and drop 70 routinely on a team; we simply don't have to be. I'm pretty sure our margin-of-victory is one of the best in the country. We've outscored opponents 201 - 35. D@mn, that's a little too close for me, maybe we should fire Nuss.
