That's big time for my little North Eastern county. Great hire.
agreed. big time hire for my Wildcats
Year graduated? I'm 95.
Oh, ok. This is awesome. He's the name that will draw the talent from surrounding counties to come play for us. It's been a long time since we've had good football. 2 years and we'll be a good football team again z
agreed. I think the last time we were good was when I was in high school. hopefully this will keep a lot kids in the city and prevent them from going to north Jackson
Rtr - I graduated from S-boro in 88. Impressive hire.
I'm excited about it. The stadium is always gonna be named after an All-Time Bama great so I guess having an Auburn guy in there will be ok.
Anything will be better than what we have put on the field the past 5 years or so. Will he be able to bring any assistants with him? Have you heard? I do they think have some very knowledgable guys already in the system to have a pretty good coaching staff.
I'll tell you what I know......
He took the job and the first thing he said on accepting the offer was he was going to do it his way and it didn't matter who was on the booster club. The best kid would play regardless if it meant losing funds from any boosters. That's huge in itself. Scottsboro has been political about who plays for 30+ years. No one has wanted to stand up to the old guard. Nix won't have it. I haven't heard anything on assistants but I'm sure he'll have full and total control.
It's about damn time. Old money has always controlled Scottsboro it seems. Both from a political and athletic standpoint. He will have the resources to be successful. Aren't they building a new field close to the high school or am I just making that up in my mind?
Those kids really don't know what's coming. Nix is one of the most fiery and scary coaches I've ever seen work. They'll hate him until he starts winning.
Class of 89 here. Hearing he will have the opportunity to hire 2 or possibly 3 assistants. Hopefully this will be a huge shot in the arm for the program.
I really think we have some young athletes that can bring us back in a couple of years. The 8th grader has a chance to be special.
Oh about the field. They've been talking about it for awhile now though I'm not sure if the funds are there. Maybe now that Nix is there, they will. I kinda love Trammel Stadium though so I'm hoping they just put a nice facelift on that and do some major repairs to the Old Highschool. (Collins Elementary) that place is falling apart and his a huge eye sore. Page is still looking great, along with Caldwell. I drove back into town and it looks pretty good. All except Collins.
New field house being built at stadium. Behind north end zone in parking lot.
That's awesome. When will it be completed?
Last I heard construction should begin ASAP. Hopefully done by next season.
Patrick Nix is one of the few "Barners" I like. He is truly a class person.
Tidepride, saw you say how fiery nix can be. Can you shed any more light on this? Sounds like he is just what we need.
