I know, I'll get crucified for not having Prothro as a WR, but I don't think you can overlook the careers of the other guys. They actually had their numbers in the Alabama record books, and for now, DJ Hall still does.
Either way, that Perkins/Curry defense would just flat out dominate the game at just about every position on the field, IMO. If we could have put together some better offenses in those days, we would have continued the Bryant days, IMO.

Gary Hollingsworth > Mike Shula
Siran Stacy > Caruth
Cornbiscuit at DE?
I think you mean Pierre Goode at WR
Hollingsworth v Shula is close, but Gary's best year was under Stallings.
Bennett played DE at Bama. Came in as a LBer, but moved to a down lineman his Jr and Sr years.
It is Kerry Goode. I know he was predominantly a RB, but he also returned kicks. Got knocked down the depth charts a bit when Humphrey and Jelks took over. Just trying to get him in there.
I went with Stacy on my All Stallings team and didn't want to overlap.
I think Gary's best season was with Curry. He had a tough time under Stallings system without Homer Smith
K. Goode got knocked down the depth chart because he blew his knee out against B.C. He was a game changer for those 1st 3 qtrs and would have loved to see how his career would have went had he not got hurt. If I remember correctly after the injury he moved to FB for a bit as well. He was never the same again.

Gary's record-setting year was 1989 under Curry.
Cornelius Bennett was an All-American LB at Bama. I've never seen him listed at DE, though he did occasionally rush from the edge.
Kerry Goode was not the same after his injury his freshman year. He mainly played FB after that, which is what he played in the pros. Pierre Goode was an excellent KR and WR.
Hollingsworth and Siran Stacy would have to make the Perkins/Curry team.
Hollingsworth was solid under Homer Smith. Also, if Stallings had kept Smith on staff from the beginning, The Louisville loss in the 91 bowl never happens. Bama would have been in the Suger Bowl instead.
Siran Stacy was unreal until his knee injury. And he was damn good after.
love prothro but im not one of those guys that says he is the best we ever had and all that..i would put him over keith brown, though. dj hall and freddie millons both belong on there.
id probably go santonio beard over darby, but there were several back in that era (hudson and williams are two more) that were about equal that people will argue for
Hollingsworth's best year was 89 under Curry.
Perkins Curry team because the LB corps and overall defense looks pretty formidable. Don't tell DeMeco. I still owe him from when he was with the Texans and gave me the game ball and one of my favorite all-time players.
People forget that the genius that is Billy Curry had Jeff Dunn at starting QB and Murry Hill starting Tailback! If I remember correctly Stacy scored 5 TD's against KY to start season and Curry still tried to play Hill over him, saying no one would lose their starting position because of injury. It did take a rocket scientist to see Stacy was a much better back, nothing against Hill. That was almost as smart as having Tkm Couch who broke national passing records running the wishbone at KY claiming it gave them their best chance to win, which they didn't win sh$t. Hal Mummy did!
Gotta have Smiley over Redmill. Sorry Griff.
The Dubose/Fran/Shula years are actually pretty stacked on defense.
Agree on both
