I really like his opening statement about us.
4 in 5 years would be...Sabanistic, imo.
Can't read.. Membership required... Grrrrrrr
Sorry, I only read the free part. Since we are always #1, I get to read the part I like normally. Forgot he had partnered with ESPN Insider.

Did I miss something? Masoli is kicked off Oregon?
We're primed for another one, schedule sets-up very nice, and I like our chances against either Georgia, Florida or South Carolina in the SEC Championship. Looking at schedules, it looks like from the start of the gate Saban and Meyer will be on a collision course for Pasadena.
This is his projection of the AP top 10. I'm more interested in his opinion of his personal top 10. I kind of feel like what I've always heard "this game is won in the trenches" where few fans really know how to evaluate a team. And neither do I except to see how many starters are lost on the lines. We are losing a lot so I wouldn't put us 1st. How many big game experience will our new OL's have? Not much. Skill players don't do much for you if the QB can't get you the ball cause he's running for his life, or there are no lanes to run in for the RB's. And of course there's not been but a couple of wire-to-wire #1 teams from the opening AP poll in its entire existence. I don't like pre-season #1. I'd hope for #3 or #4 but I bet he's right and we get the top spot.
Its a bullcrap list since there is no mention of Auburn
The schedule Alabama has is probably one reason we will be ranked #1 preseason. Every team loses players after every season. Texas A&M lost some very good players along their lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball too. Their defense only returns five starters. Georgia loses basically their entire defense to graduation and the NFL. LSU lost a ton of players too. It's not just limited to Alabama. I think most assume the way we recruit we should be able to reload and go on about our business. I tend to agree with that because I feel the offensive line will be very good once again. As long as there is a solution at nose guard the defensive line will be good too.
No flame, but it always irks me when people rank teams according to their schedule.
If the BCSCG game is about the best two teams, why do people vote (in preseason) according to schedule? I get that they want to be right, but vote based on how good you think the team is, not based on how many easy wins they will have.
Rant over...for now.
I don't think anyone is saying Alabama will be No. 1 because of it's schedule, it's more of a "They have a better chance to run the table" thing. It's a much more favorable schedule than this past season, but two-time reigning champions will carry its own weight.
Steele's final comment is what got my attention: Add it all up and the Tide look just as strong, if not stronger, than last year's team, and AP voters will reward them.
"Alabama only lost nine seniors" will be the line we hear over and over agin.
