If there would have been injuries, he would have been needed. He was our insurance. As with any insurance, you hope it's never needed.
That being said, Thank You Phillip and Good Luck!
Saban has already accounted for Ely leaving and set up Bozeman's grayshirt because he knows already who he will sign on Feb. 6th. Dont think for a second that he hasnt already got things sewn up for signing day. Just making room for the new crop. RTR
Just stop. We needed depth at QB. And whether or not you felt it was a good choice doesn't really matter. This isn't an "I told you so" situation. Philip Sims transferred too... Should we not have accepted his commitment?
People probably beat you up over it because there is no good reason to say that an incoming recruit doesn't deserve to be on the team. Part of me felt that way about Sunseri and even though he's not our best player, that dude has proved a majority of us wrong.
Not much depth there
At least one less body
I must have missed it. Do u have a link?
Wish him the best of luck. I liked this kid and hopefully he shines at USF
There's a YSF site???
Nah. It wasnt a long td. I think it was a short dump off to Lacy and he ran it in, what made it neat was that Ely threaded it in between 2 defenders. Like under their arms, chest level.
"We're modern-day gladiators, and that mental toughness is really important to have in a good team." Nick Saban
this time of year there are all types of transfer rumors among the depth chart guys, its nothing new.
as for Ely, while he's not a 5* golden-child w/ a rocket arm imo he's a far better game day QB than many here give him credit.
however while he may be better than most feel HERE he's not as talented as some that are THERE.
i wish him the best reguardless.
well he apparently isn't leaving....hahah
I wish him all the best in whatever he decides to do. If he plays for UA good luck to him. If he transfers to USF, I wish him all the best as well. I really like Coach Taggart and what he's did at USF.
Love how everyone thinks they know the depth chart already.
I know it is fun to speculate, but people get up in arms and speak with authority that one kid is ahead of another. Just relax and it will all play out.
We recruited Ely because he was highly regarded, and the coaches liked his skill set. The same people asking why we recruited him would be complaining that we didn't have a viable back-up if McCarron had gone down. He was behind Sims, but that doesn't mean he isn't a very capable QB. Recruiting QB's is hard, but our staff is very good at what they do. You never know how a QB is going to develop in a system.
It was at the end of the MSU game (the last one where he saw the field). ESPN should have a clip of it.
Hate to see Mr. Ely go, but if so, I wish him all the best. He will still be a Tide man always, though. RTR!
When did he say Fabulous? Is your opinion the only one that matters? Sure seems like you think that way.
He is right. We do have some depth at Bama that we havent had since i have been alive.
