Does the committee send selection guidelines before the bball season starts? It seems like it would help for teams to know what exactly the committee is putting a priority on each year. It seems like it changes from year to year. I was thinking about how several years ago I remember when they said that conference tournaments could never hurt you but only help you but that hasn't seemed the case for the last ten years or so. Maybe if they did it before schedules are finalized. I remember Gottfried getting the message about scheduling and the next year it made a difference. Just curious if this takes place or not.
All respect, that doesn't make any sense...it's a zero sum game...somebody else getting helped by thier conf tourney inherently hurts you compared to them. I think what you are asking is if we win a couple can we leap over UK, UT and/or Ole Miss...I'd think the answer is yes, especially head to head.
I understand and agree but probably ten plus years ago that was what all the talking heads would say came out of committee's mouths. The tournaments could only help and not hurt. It's very similar to getting to twenty wins was a sure in you got in the tournament several years ago. A lot has changed. I was just bringing that up as an example from the past.
I think the best way to look at it is that overall, the tourneys don't count MORE than other games....I seem to recall a couple years ago where we were on the bubble and so was UGA. We beat em during hte season, THEN we beat em in the tourney, and they STILL got in over us...
