Why don't the coaches just tell Gueye to not shoot the ball unless he can dunk it. There have been numerous times where he tries to shoot the ball and he's inside two feet. Just jump up and dunk the ball. I love his defense but its really hard to watch him on the offensive end. I really don't want to bash the kid but just making an observation.
Fair question. I don't think you ever want to tell a guy not to shoot, though, if he has position. However, on the few times he has dunked it this year, he has looked explosive. Not sure why he doesn't just slam it home, unless its a confidence issue
His hands are painfully weak. He has some ability though.
Gueye has no hops, I don't think I have ever seen him dunk without bringing the ball down and then using his arm momentum to get him high enough to the rim to dunk.
It's better off if he doesn't take the ball down in traffic and just try to get the layup up close. It would be nice if he could dunk without bringing the ball down, but I really don't think he can do it.
Dude is just awkward shooting but that steal tonight and d shows that he has room for improvement and athleticism. Think his play will be critical down the stretch.
If they could fix only one thing with him this offseason it'd be teaching him to keep the ball high and go straight up with it. I'm still optimistic that they can make him a functional center next season
not many 7 footers have "ups". Gueye just needs to get stronger, imo. He obviously has the athleticism and you can see it with his defense, blocking shots, even when he handles the ball some.
If gueye could learn footwork, get better hands, and obtain one post move over the offseason, he will keep jacobs off the floor and will be a huge piece for us with engstrom coming back. Defensively he is exactly what we need. But when he is out there its 4 on 5. I watched uf the other night. Grant runs their exact offense. The difference bw us and uf is 2 players. Patric Young and Erik Murphy.
